This is beyond great Ethiopian, it's some of the best food in the North Bay! If you're familiar with Ethiopian food already, you'll love it. The service is wonderful and atmosphere is very casual, but still feels special and cozy. And, the food is great! There are meat-filled, vegetarian, and even vegan options. A full vegan plate that is amazzzzzzzing.... More

The food and service were great each time we visited. The vegetarian combination plate is everything you'd want it to be (and I hear that the meat dishes are equally pleasing). Every appetizer we ordered was flavorful. Not spicy but they will adjust as needed.

This family-owned gem boasts wonderful East African flavors that will leave you in absolute bliss. Its charming atmosphere, wonderfully attentive service, and absolutely stunning plating leaves one with the quiet solace of having experienced an authentic Ethiopian supper - or lunch, for that matter! It is a must-do for the ethnic food lover and general all-around foodie alike. One of... More

I had never had Ethiopian until I tried this place and now I am hooked. I love the vegetarian sampler. I don't do spicy AT ALL and they will substitute more of the non-spicy dishes for the ones I can't eat. They can accommodate gluten free, and my friends who are meat lovers say the lamb is to die for.... More

We were in Ethiopia many years ago and had "The National Dish" at many different restaurants there--injera and wot (spongy sourdough flatbread topped with a savory stew). Abyssinia faithfully recreates that wonderful cuisine, but tones down the spice for the American palate, and adds wonderful vegetarian/vegan options. We shared the vegetarian plate for two, which was more than enough food... More

A friend familiar with this cuisine invited me out to lunch. This whole experience was amazing. First the owner/chef greeted us and we were seated. She had menu suggestions and my friend conferred with her on dishes he is familiar with from experience. We started with an appetizer made with Fava beans and spices. The combination of flavors are not... More

I was in the US visiting friends that we'd made while working in Uganda. We had a lovely Ethiopian restaurant that we used to visit regularly. We wanted to rekindle some of our Ugandan memories so sort out this restaurant & it was completely worth it. The food was as good as we remembered, all be it slightly more expensive... More

First, I love Ethiopian food. It's not common, so when I have the chance to have some, I jump at the chance. With so many great reviews, I hoped we were in for a good meal. And, we were so happy. Food was excellent - flavors so complex and delicious, I couldn't stop eating even after I was full. We... More

I love eating here. The food is homey and comforting. The veggie combo and Abyssinia combo are both delicious and offer a wide variety of dishes to try. The injera is really a treat as are the greens. The seasonings are unique. Very kind people make and serve the food. It's very nice to have a restaurant like this nearby.

This place is where we always go when we head to Santa Rosa. My husband likes the beef tartare and I get the vegan sampler platter. Plenty of food for a great price. While we find that sometimes the flavors pop more intensely than others, we always go back because the seasonings are unique and the restaurant is very clean.... More
