We were seated in a small back section that smelled like old fish and the fish taco didn't taste much better and was cold. Then the mariachi band came and played for every table and frightened our young children with the loudness of their instruments. Everyone is so complementary of this restaurant and I don't understand it. Even the Margherita... More

Who would have know that you can go to Solana Beach and feel you are in Mexico within moments of arriving. Just good Mexican food with great service. Highly recommend South of the border restaurant without leaving North County

If your looking for the quintessential mexican restaurant, complete with mariachi's and a varied mexican menu this is the place. The service is attentive and the servings generous. Reminds me of high end restourants in Guadeloupe Mexico. If your looking for a quite dinner, I suggest you look elsewhere. If your looking for a menu close to authentic mexican, this... More

If you're staying in Carlsbad, take the short drive to Solana and find this cute (and busy) place for some great family-style Mexican food. Great margaritas, too! Don't expect fancy - do expect good salsa and plenty of time to enjoy the old space and the food.

Fidel's is all about authenticity. The atmosphere makes you feel like you've stepped back into old Mexico. There seems to be very little that is ADA compliant here… Ups, downs, narrow hallways and close quarters just like an old Mexico. The food is absolutely fantastic. The Carnitas, Soups, chili Riano's and other dishes are all authentic. I can't recommend this... More

We have been here several times before and always been impressed, the food is still great, but they will have to work at keeping up the standard and keeping it authentic. Shame they don't do tamales! It is always busy and you sometimes have to wait for a table. It is worth the wait, make sure you have a margarita... More

The food at Fidel's is becoming boring and the prices are going up. This used to be one of "The Spots" in Eden Garden, but lately it seems they have just been unable to execute as in the past. They serve the classic Californian Mexican dishes but OK, but the spirit and zip is missing. I have eaten here many... More

Fidel's is an iconic sit down Mexican eatery in Solana Beach. The atmosphere is great for groups of people 4 or more. The crowd is a mixed group of young and old. It is a kid friendly atmosphere. There is extensive seating downstairs including many booths and an outdoor patio space. He food is great -maybe not quite as good... More

In this restaurant hundreds of times and in this particular location service was horrible and the food was tasteless. It took forever to get our waiter take a day and then it took just as long to get our food I was pretty much for meeting with chips for my meal even sure of it. I had three rolled tacos... More

This is a fun restaurant built on many levels with many rooms to explore. Good, standard Mexican food at good prices. Great for a couple or a crowd.
