The food here was amazing, Great bar, reasonably priced drinks. I like the nopales dishes. We really enjoyed the several dinners we had here. Don Chuy will be missed.

Love this place. Always fresh, authentic, friendly service and good food time after time - this is a great local place that makes you feel like you're in Mexico.

This is a small family run restaurant. The service was friendly and the menu typical of Mexican restaurants...no surprises. The margaritas were great as we're the chips and salsa. Unfortunately, the food was average at best. We enjoyed the experience, the service and the mariachi's but doubt if we would go back.

We were with a bunch of friends we hadn't seen for ages and actually wanted to talk and not shout so we skipped Taco Tuesday at whatever bar that is in Del Mar, and went to Don Chuy's. It was about to close and was very quiet but the guys kept it open for us with no complaints. The food... More

It took us a few wrong turns to find this restaurant, as it's away from the main drag and we are from out of town - but it was worth it. Simple, classic Mexican decor, solid traditional food. If you want something you can't find everywhere else try the nopales - sliced, sauteed cactus pads - they were a delicious... More

Everyone in San Diego has their favorite Mexican restaurant. Our family has been going to Don Chuys for years. The menu is extensive and the food is authentic Mexican for a reasonable price. We have been here with small groups and groups of up to ten. Each time the service has been warm, friendly and prompt. It's a family-owned restaurant... More

Not as good as Tony's Jacal (across the street). Fish tacos were great. Otherwise, food was ordinary.

I know those who live in Solana Beach love Fidel's and Tony Jacal's and while I find those to be wonderful restaurants, I think Don Chuy has the best Mexican dishes around town. At first glance, it looks like a hole in the wall, but when you walk in, it is nicely decorated with "papel picado" (decorative tissue paper) and... More

Decided to try this place in spite of some bad reviews. Drove up and it didn't look so great but we figured what the heck. Glad we went in. We sat outside. It's not fancy but nice atmosphere. The food was great and really plentiful. I only ate half my dinner. My husband ate all of his but wished he... More
