Ignore the gushing reviews, this is just average, I've been to Thailand several times, had great Thai. Red curry is watery. Noodles OK, not special

I like al dente veggies but my green curry with chicken veggies were barely cooked at all. All the dishes we ordered were supposed to come with Thai basil. Never saw it and didn’t taste it. My friend ordered a cup of soup and they...served it with her entree which I thought was weird. I did like their brown rice, but to pay extra for any kind of rice didn’t make me too happy.More
We first tried Sawasdee during our first lockdown and we’ve now ordered takeout idk how many times. We were loyal to another Thai place, and we still love them too, but I like the change in recipes. We pretty much get the same dishes every...time, if it’s good why change? We like egg rolls, the green papaya salad, Thai fried rice and drunken noodles with chicken. The noodles have just the right amount of spice. I recommend getting a side of peanut sauce as it’s delicious on the rice. They give so much food that we usually get two dinners for two of us. Definitely give them a try for takeout for now and hopefully soon in their cute dining room.More
The drunken noodle with duck was the best. They were generous with the meat, and vegetables were tender and not overcooked. Faultless combination of sweet, salty, spicy, and umami. The food to $ value is definitely excellent. My companion had spicy beef (Thai spicy, he...said) and pineapple fried rice. Defying expectations, he got more beef than the pineapple! The ladies at the counter were nice and friendly. They made the order (all to-go now, of course) in ten minutes. The multiple-choice questions below are not exact. The dining room is closed, and there is no outside seating. Everything is takeout.More
My wife and I have eaten at Sawasdee’s for over 10 years and have been so pleased with the food and service that we bring visiting family and friends to eat here. On December 30, 2019, we brought five family members to the Soquel location...as we are usually very pleased with your food and service. I am writing a new review because our dining experience was disappointing. The receipt indicates our server was Tommy. My disappointment is because of the following: 1. We ordered four dishes (Pad Thai with chicken, Pad Khee Mao with chicken, Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken and Gai Hima-paan), Tom Kha with tofu, an order of steamed rice, and tea. I ordered all dishes be mild, not spicy, and without any onions. 2. All dishes were served with onions which two members of our party are unable to eat. 3. The Pad Khee Mao and GaiHima-paan were spicy which several members were unable to eat. 4. We were served brown rice because the server said you were out of white rice. We are okay with this change. 5. Although it was included on our final bill, we were never served the tea. When I saw this, I informed the female server who had assisted with service during the evening that we had not received the tea. She said she would tell our server. Our server (Tommy) returned and asked me if we had ordered tea. I told him we ordered tea, but never received it. He left a corrected bill which excluded the charge for the tea. 6. The bill included a gratuity charge Although I know this is usually standard policy for our size group (7), I would not have left that large a tip because there were errors with our order (onions were included in the dishes and two dishes were spicy; tea was not served) and the service was just okay, but not great. Neither of the servers ever checked back to see how our food was or if there we any problems. 7. Tommy has been our server a couple times when my wife and I have come for lunch and we had minor problems with our orders on those occasions. I will not speculate or share my feelings on the reasons for his frequent errors. Overall our family was happy with the food, but somewhat disappointed because not all members could enjoy all the dishes. When I arrived home, I called the restaurant and asked to speak with the owner. The young man who answered the phone asked what this was about. I said I wanted to talk with the owner regarding our dining experience this evening. He said the owner was not available. I said I would call again and when I asked for his name, he hung up on me. After my telephone experience, I sent a message that evening to the email address available through their website. Eight days later and I have not received a response of any kind. My wife and I have always enjoyed eating at your restaurant (also take-out a couple times) and have taken friends and family there. Although I am pretty sure my wife and I will return, I am extremely disappointed in our experience this evening, the errors and omission in our order, and having to pay the amount of gratuity I did for the less than stellar service.More
Sawasdee Thai Cuisine, at 5050 Soquel Dr, in Soquel, CA, has really gone down hill -- Food is awful. Used to be good with original, previous owner.
My friends love this place. Even though I recently spent a month in Thailand and four neighboring countries, I just can't become enthused about the cuisine. My dinner last night was sweet and sour pork, where the meat of some kind was deep fried until...dried, and then I think that I was supposed to float it in the soup-like sauce and eat all of it together. I also tried the other two dishes of friends. Sawasdee remains a popular place for both dining in and take out food.More
Always good food, served in a Thia happy atmosphere. I've tried many dishes have found them all good.
We've gone here many times and have never been disappointed! Exceptionally friendly service in a very pleasent setting.Quiet enough to actually have a conversation! Food is very flavorful, fresh, and authentic. Love their noodles! Portions are good sized and many times enough to share. Prices...ae reasonable. Lunch specials available on weekdays.More
You get the real deal at Sawasdee! Their inviting entranceway and dining rooms are full of Elegance matched only by their food and friendly staff! Everything they serve is delicious whether you like hot or just fill of flavor! Just an incredible dining excitement at...a surprisingly great price! :)More
First impression from the parking lot is that this is a tiny little restaurant, but don't let appearances fool you, it is larger than you think. It is a white tablecloth establishment owned by very nice Thai people. The specials are great and the food...is all wonderful.More
Started with Spring Rolls and Papaya Salad. Both were tasty and full of flavor. The peanut sauce for Spring Rolls top notch. Continued with Red Panang Curry with Salmon, good but could have used more depth. The Red Pumpkin Curry was good but again could...have used for us more flavor. The Brown Rice was very tasty.More
Went for lunch and it was hard to choose from all the yummy sounding dishes. I selected Singapore Noodle with curry & chicken. Delicious and finished every bite as did my friend. Another person ordered Pad Thai and was delicious. Service was quick & friendly.
This is a very popular Thai place. The food is incredible, the staff friendly, and the coziness of the restaurant feels like you are part of a family. Love it.
I went with my daughter and her boyfriend. We arrived at 9:35 on a Friday night. Told we close at 10 so hurry and order. Was given all of 2 minutes to decide. I chose won ton soup as I didn't have time to look....It was good. Kids enjoyed their meal. Don't understand the hurry.More
