I've tried almost all the popular South Indian restaurants in the area and Madras Cafe is absolutely my favorite. The food has always been fresh and hot. Their service is quick no matter the time of day. Expect wait times during peak dinner hours especially on weekends. If one likes spicy food, I would definitely recommend the Kara dosa -... More

Go to place for a piping hot sambar vada and Madras coffee. Delicious fare and a great place to bump into acquaintances and friends

This restaurant reminds me of old-time 'Madrasi cafeterias' in India, with names like Kamala Vilas, Prem Vilas, Jyoti Vihar, Arya Bhavan, Saravana Bhavana. Same dining-room style fast-paced service, same spicy steaming dosa-vada-utthapam served in stainless steel plates, and same aroma from hot "filter" coffee in tiny steel glasses. Differences are minute, caught in the expert palate - of a bland... More

I have not lived in India since 2013, and have been craving a true, delicious dosa. Madras Cafe has the best I have had in the United States. Their dosa is crisp, full of flavor, and the fillings and chutneys are excellent. The sambar was better than I've had in many cities in India, and their masala chai was also... More

We had dinner at the Madras Cafe in Sunnyvale CA on Nov !2 2016 . In this restaurant, we are required to first place order at the counter and make payment. Then , we are seated . We were hungry and placed order for various items as required . Onion tomato uhtappa, masala dosa , pongal rice and puri bhaji... More

The coffee, rava dosa and dosas take you back to authentic chennai food scene. The vadai is average and salty. Dont expect service as it is always crowded and self service.

The Cafe suffers delicious South Indian food at very competitive prices. Though it is crowdy, they take orders even as you wait and the food is served immediately after occupying the seats as soon as they are available.

We, the family were at Arques Avenue, Sunnyvale and came across this restaurant..we decided to have lunch as we were hungry. This is located at the intersection of Lawrence express way and Arques Avenue and very close to Fry's Electronic shop and Residence Inn Marriott on Stewart drive which used to be my place of stay when I came to... This is more like a fast food restaurant. I was here on a Sunday for lunch, had to wait for sometime. The food was good, no complaints on that. The service was bit slow, but understandable, given that it was a Sunday afternoon. This is one of those very few places which serves breakfast. The washroom was horrible.

We went with family of three. We should say coffee was a HIT. Tasted exactly to authentic taste of Tamilnadu. Chicken Biriyani has to be improved as I could taste raw spice taste. Dosa is not to the standards for the brand name. That's my personal opinion because other two guys liked.
