9 am breakfast 9/27/22 Bacon was a curled up ball of 4 greasy rubber band like strips. Waitress took it off my plate and returned to kitchen she agreed it looked horrible. Asked for hash browns well done and they were b/t raw n semi...cooked, The Sour Dough toast was NOT TOAST IT WAS LUKE WARM BREAD SOFT LIKE IT COMES OUT OF PACKAGE NOT EVEN BROWNED OR SIGN THAT IT WAS TOASTED, The Bacon I had to ask for it since I was waiting for a long time.I did not want to complain after the Bacon but the waitress asked me how was everything so I told her the Above. She said I'll call the mgr so you can tell him. Well the Mgr happen to stop by and asked me how was everything so I let him know He just walked away and said with his back turned I'll let the guys know in back like a don't care attitude. Will never return or stop at any black bear, we been going to them for 20 yrs, But Black Bear has lost it and leadership is obviously lacking not like it used to be slack and maybe tired needs refreshing to come back!!I explained all the above to the mgr so there was no confusion as to what happened. The waitress was not at fault she was embarrassed how the food was coming out of the kitchen and I feel she is not getting supported eithe. But she was doing her best,More
We were looking for a diner and this place really delivered. Excellent at both Dinner and Breakfast. Excellent and quick service. A great stop on our way to the Parks. Highly recommended.
We stopped here for lunch on our way from Tulare to San Fran. Kids were already crabby that we didn’t stop at a chain restaurant. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was here! Big portions too! I ordered the “little” Club...which is really a normal size club and a cup of tortilla soup, which was really good. My husband ordered the rueben sandwich which he said was good. My son ordered the big cheeseburger (BIG!) which he almost finished and my other son ordered the kids sliders. Then we shared an order of their hashbrowns extra crispy as they looked unique and they were good too. Food took 15 or so minutes to arrive, faster than other places we’ve visited so far. Not much leftovers for us! If you want a place with large portions, breakfast served all day, and good food for a reasonable price, this is your place.More
The best breakfast place not just in the area but in general. Why go to other commercial breakfast restaurants while Black Bear Diner serves an authentic breakfast meals. Very affordable price, excellent food and service. I personally love their pancakes; very creamy and so yummy....I’d love to come back. Highly recommended.More
I've always liked black besr restaurants. Visalia location team was professional and polite. I just wish I could remember our waitress name so I could especially thank her.
owner wants to keep employees employed and obeys all Covid rules-except you can eat inside! what a rush.. so nice to see regular diners conversing with waitresses, and all the service was great, food delivered quick, screw Covid-let's eat! and eat here!
Be so glad when we can eat inside, I don't see how being outside is healthier, smoke from the fires, summer heat, car exhaust & flies. But besides all that Black Bear is doing a great job, Thank You to all Black Bear employees.
Waitress refused to ask man seated in dining area to stop smoking! We were forced to leave or else have my kids inhale cigarette smoke.
Due to Coved 19 we were finally able to sit and eat. So nice and good food. friendly service, glad to be back.
We enjoy the food here it's as good as some of the expensive places in Visalia. Service is decent and it's kept clean. It's woodsey theme and Bears hanging around is a nice touch.
I had the pot roast. There wasn’t a lot of meat. There were too many vegetables in the recipe. Why would a potato side be offered when there are potatoes in the recipe? Also, why would I need extra vegetables as a side when there...is an abundance of vegetables in the recipe? The gravy was watery as well as the green beans. This is comfort food at below average quality. The side salad was good and corn bread was tasty. The service was excellent and the prices were fair and the portions were decent. My daughter had a hamburger and it was average at best. I would not recommend this restaurant except to proceed with caution.More
Almost all meals that I have had here have been good. Until now. Several of us ate there on a Friday at 6:00 PM. Not too crowded. Service was attentive. Our group had a hamburger, steak, prime rib. Of course I had to get the...'all you can eat fish'. While I am always worried about the various types of breading, this fish came out with a breading that was not too thick and did taste good. The problem, the fish was not flaky but mushy. It had to have been frozen a long time. Mush!! I hate Long Johns Silvers breading but the fish itself is flaky. Was told not to get fish unless at the coast. Will listen next time. Rated the restaurant as very good but I would rate my fish as terrible. We will eat there again because their food is good but NOT the fish. Others beware.More
We like Black Bear, but on your birthday they will bring you free pie and sing to you. The food and service is always good also.
