I have been eating at Café Bernard for almost twenty years. The consistency of their menu matches the deliciousness of their dishes. Classic French cuisine with a local feel.

When we find a restaurant we particularly enjoy, we try to eat there more than once if we can. Such was the case with Cafe Bernard in Basalt, Colorado. This small charming room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We started with breakfast - so good that we returned for breakfast a second time. If our stay in Basalt had been... More

We tried to go for the breakfast several times and they were always full (no reservations). Finally decided to try Dinner. Good decision. Good Food and Great Sauces. Can't wait to go back. We will have to get up earlier for the Breakfast too!

Enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at this cute little French spot in Basalt. Delicious food and friendly staff in an unassuming, cozy setting. Enjoyed a classic Cesar salad, fresh and flavorful Trout Almondine with orzo and mixed veggies and light lemon sorbet served beautifully in a frozen lemon peel shell. For breakfast, I had omelette with toast for breakfast. Both... More

Each winter season, when our family gathers together...we go to Cafe Bernard's for multiple visits. Why ?? Because, each year it continues to be delicious, reliable and warmly welcoming in a simple peaceful, lovely atmosphere - one in which you can actually hear the folks at your table in conversation ( as opposed to so many other area restaurants :-(... Quiet spot for a good French dinner; the chef was funny and cool, but the food wasn't special, sorry. Nice waitress. The endive salad was unfulfilling( and the tortellini was dry without much flavor. The liver was ok, and the fries were alright, but again, not special

The Caesar salad dressing was very good but. unfortunately, the romaine lettuce was room temperature and limp. The pommes frites were undercooked and greasy. Don't even think about asking for ketchup! The waitress said the owner gets mad if you order wine before making your dinner selection. The saving grace for this place is the entrees - salmon, calves liver,... More

Although most reviews say Bernards was superb, we were a bit disappointed. It is very small (only seated about 10 people) and servers and cook are very unfriendly. The food was mediocre & had a bit of a pretentious atmosphere. Not a place we would return to.

Great breakfast. The only complaint is my husband would have liked more trout in his trout hash. In their defence, the fish had not been biting much the last few days. It was definitely fresh trout though.

Cafe Bernard is a cozy neighborhood cafe serving breakfast, lunch and dinner since 1990. With just eight tables--and a few more on the sidewalk during the warmer months--we hope you won't mind a short wait if we are busy. We use the highest quality ingredients and support our local farmers and food purveyors. Our menu reflects the French influence of owner Bernard Moffroid with buttery croissants and omelets in the mornings and a wide selection of flavorful meals served at dinner. The wine list is currently featuring the chateaux of Bordeaux along with many fine West Coast vintners. Reservations suggested for dinner.
