We have been to Cafe Mexicali many times and have enjoyed the food every time. Sometimes we eat there, and sometimes we pick up dinners to bring home. We are a family of four with older teens. Oldest is away at college and always wants to come to Cafe Mexicali when she comes home for visits. We have liked many... More

Busy for a Saturday afternoon. Ordered 2 soft shell tacos and a chicken burrito with 2 drinks and chips and salsa. Total price $21. Seems like a popular place. Great taste and flavor.

We are from California so we are pretty particular about Good Mexican cuisine. Southern California has no comparative restaurant to this place. They have a sweet pork burrito with a white cream sauce that you have to try. First the portion they make is enough for two persons, second the way they heat it in their pizza type oven just... Cafe Mexicali has the best food at a reasonable price. You have to try the sweet pork with the creamy Habanero sauce. It is absolutely fantastic. Plenty of seating in a fun atmosphere. The service is very good also. I highly recommend you give them a try if you haven't already!

Usually pretty busy at lunch, but worth the wait. Call and order for pick up if you're in a hurry. Sweet pork is my favorite and there's always enough left over for another lunch.

This restaurant is a cafeteria-style place that is popular with college students because it is inexpensive and the portions are large. It is one of those Mexican restaurants where everything is drenched in cheap, greasy cheese and everything tastes as if it was poured from a jar. There are many choices for Mexican food in Fort Collins. This restaurant is... More

I love Mexican food and I love Cafe Mex. I eat here at least once a week. I keep trying to get something other than the sweet pork casole and with creamy habenero sauce, but I can't. I have eaten parts of my friends' meals, so I know it's all delicious. They start with these amazing fresh flour tortillas, if... More

Cafe Mexicali is in the genre of Chipoltle, however the food doesn't stack up. Tortilla is huge and thick, way too much rice and too little meat. Chips bland. Illegal Petes is a much better version of this in the Fort.

If you are looking for decent Mexican food that is not too expensive, this is a good choice. They make most dishes in what looks like a pie plate. You can stand and watch them make your dish behind about a neck high (for me, that is about 5'5") glass window. It is fun deciding what you would like on... More

Food is good, not great. Staff is usually nice, you do get some bad attitudes from time to time. Only open until 7 on Sundays in the "Winter" which is posted on the door. I guess July is winter......... in New Zealand.
