Kampai in Japanese means "cheers" but it might as well mean "stay away". Enter through a dark, very dark passageway into a lounge room with hibachi tables behind the lounge. To your left is a stairway leading to a less dark, but no less unappealing dining room with a sushi bar. The first sign of trouble--no quail eggs. Our server... More

Family of five dined here and was honestly expecting more from the reviews. Birthday dinner for kids who were excited about the hibachi experience but the chef was devoid of personality which also reflected or filtered down to the food. There is nothing that separates this restaurant from other hibachi places in the area. We have gone to 9 East... More

Hibachi room or traditional room(s) (including small private dining rooms and a very traditional "sit on the floor" private room). Traditional is up-stairs, I don't know if there is an elevator. Standard fare in the Hibachi room, traditional in traditional rooms.

That was 28 years ago. We've tried many Japanese hibachi restaurants in CT through the years and always come back to Kampai. It's our favorite. Consistently great food.... More

Up in East Windsor there are not many good choices for Hibachi. Kampai therefore was a great experience for novice like me. When I heard about it I grabbed my co worker and went there for dinner. Loved the entertainment of cooking my food. It felt like I paid for the food but the entertainment and saki were for free... More

My wife and I enjoyed a few drinks and great rolls at this restaurant after some Christmas shopping recently. The bartender was very friendly and prompt. The food was fantastic. This restaurant has been in business at this location for decades and they know their business well. If you can look past the dated interior finishes that desperately need updating,... More

Good quality food and great entertainment if you have the meal prepared on the grill in front of you. Even the kids enjoyed it. Really yummy and entertaining.
