Nice spot for an outdoor lunch on Essex Island. It's really an island - you take a free water shuttle that ferries you across the boat channel to the island. Very busy on a Sunday afternoon when we got to Marley's; almost a 30 minute wait for two sandwiches AFTER we placed the order! So be patient, relax and enjoy... More

The owners and chefs of this unique restaurant are seasoned restaurant owners and caterers and it shows in everything they produce. Yes, there is a theme of Jamaican cuisine here but also a range of styles and motifs that make the place interesting and the food great. Add to that the fact that many of the tables are outside along... More

Take a 30 second boat ride from Essex to the Yacht Club where you will find this little gem of a restaurant. Sit outside, see the view of sailboats on the CT river and BYOB. Lobster bisque to die for. Sandwiches huge. Crab cake sandwich meh. Cubano highly recommended, as was the Marley burger. Not pricey at all! When you... More

Nice little town, we had a nice walk on a fall day, then a nice little, free, ferry ride as this restaurant is across the road from the water. A very nice spot of paradise for a bit of lunch.. We had a burger and a Reuben with their potato salad. Nice lunch 😊

Authentic German meal. The deserts and fresh hot coffee finished off a great evening. A must do if you are in the area.

I heard about Marley's through a friend. I stood on the dock 2 years ago and had no idea it was there, as it is truly a hidden gem. All seven us us went here yesterday. This experience is one in a million. If you go here on a nice, sunny day, it's even better. The food is fine and... More

My wife and I were spending a few days in NYC and Connecticut, taking day trips to towns along the coast. We found ourselves in Essex, hungry and looking for lunch. After parking we walked to the harbor hoping to find a suitable place for lunch. We were met a the dock by a friendly pilot on a 6 passenger... More

I have been reluctant to submit this review for years only for the fact that I don't want the word to spread too far. However, it is only fair to the owners Claudia and Jeff that I finally write it! If you want really good food in a relaxed outdoor casual atmosphere, this is your place. Although there is limited... More

We love Marley's and try to visit at least a few times every summer/fall. The menu is simple but very good, made with fresh ingredients and plenty of attention. Take the very short ferry ride to Essex Island, make reservations and enjoy a peaceful afternoon or evening on the Connecticut river. If you go without reservations on a nice day,... More

Menu is what I would call a general "Pub Menu" with a variety of sandwiches and salads. I had the fresh tuna sandwich, and it was out of the world, possibly the best I've ever had. I like my tuna cooked very rare; the server passed this on to the chef and it was cooked exactly as I wanted. Which... More
