I have to give this place an average review for only one reason. I ordered a meal to take home. The entree was delicious. I also ordered cheese dip. It doesn't come with chips. Chips are extra $. Why??? Am I supposed to sip it with a spoon? If I dine in the restaurant, chips come with the cheese dip.... More

While there are a number of Mexican restaurants in Groton this is not one I am likely to return to. This restaurant is lacking in taste, both in the food and also the décor

Haven't been here in a long time. Needed a change from holiday fare, and couldn't pass up future son-in-law's invite. All dishes were well prepared, plates too hot to touch (we were fore-warned). Everything nice and fresh. Complimentary chips and salsa had the right degree of heat. Service was very attentive but nicely hovered invisibly. Owner/manager (?) assisted and checked... More

I visited Ortega's while I was on holidays in Connecticut, visiting my sister. This was my second time there. There's plenty of choice on the menu. We were served quickly. We got there around 5pm and it was quiet but by the time we were leaving there were quite a few people in. We had a nachos combo starter and... More

My husband and I were visiting the brewery in the area and dying for some food. We weren't having much luck finding anything until we got into Groton. I saw Ortega's on TA and figured we'd check it out. The reviews weren't great, but the pictures made the food look good. We arrived around 1:00 and the place was empty.... More

This restaurant has gone though a funk from a lack of reinvestment and poor management. The food can sometimes be good, but very inconsistent. I stopped going altogether after I broke I cracked a tooth on a rock. When I told the waitress I thought there was broken glass in the beans, she checked with the cook who said it... More

Wow. This place used to be decent - not great - but now it's just plain terrible. I ordered a chicken taco salad off the lunch menu (for nearly nine bucks) and got a half filled tortilla shell. The shell was actually chewy so who knows when it had been made. The bottom completely disintigrated due to all the watery... More

We love Ortegas, we have eaten here for years since they first opened. We came to Connecticut from the southeast and were initially very dissapointed in our mexican options, there are many wonderful mexican restaurants in Kentucky (previous migrant agricultural workers), we read reviews and drove all over the state with little luck. The salsa here is delicious. The refried... More

Ortega's is a good old Mexican restaurant with tacos, burritos, fajitas, chips and salsa. It's our go to Mexican restaurant in the Groton/New London area.
