I know reviews here are very good, so maybe my expectations were very high, and there was a line waiting outside the restaurant, which speaks volumes. I think this is a popular locals spot. I found myself thinking they could have done better. The value was not the best. The omelette was $8.50 and a bit on the dry side,... More

This place is a definite gem. The place is small so seating is tight so the earlier you arrive the better. The line starts piling up around 930am. I'd you are doing takeout give them at least 45 minutes to prepare your order. Great items: home fries, bacon, pancakes, and the cinnamon swirl pancakes!. The corned beef hash is top... More

Thanks to other TripAdvisor reviewers, we picked The Pantry Restaurant as our place to stop in New Haven for a late breakfast en route to vacation in PA, MD, and DC. Nearby parking was limited, but we were fortunate to get a space within a block. There was no line outside when we arrived about 11:30 AM on a Monday.... More

Who doesn't just love someone cooking them breakfast-and breakfasts here are consistently good! It's a nice walk there thru East Rock but when the weather is chilly I can always find a place to park. Waitstaff is great & friendly. Cash only & enjoy the sunshine!

This place is the real deal. Had a great meal and tried a bunch of their dishes -- everyone at the table wanted to try each others meals. From pancakes to eggs benedict, everything was delicious. Also the service was excellent!

Any time anyone wants to go to breakfast, I automatically suggest here. The food is fantastic and the prices aren't bad, either. The coffee is good as well. One of my favorite things about this place is that the bacon is actually crispy. I am a huge bacon fan and I often find that many places leave it kind of... More

We read great reviews about this place. We decided to check it out on a weekday to avoid having to wait too long (we have a newborn with us). There is tons of parking in the back, which was very convenient. The restaurant itself is pretty small, maybe with about 10 tables? The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Everybody is... More

The American diner is a great institution, but sometimes it gets a little stuck. I like it best if they're stuck in the 50s and 60s, with retro fittings and classic food. There are versions however that are stuck more in the 80s - same menu (eggs, pancakes) but wooden cafe furniture and design elements that look like they were... More

We have eaten at The Pantry 4-5 times on our visits to New Haven. We have never been disappointed. The pancakes are huge and amazingly good. I usually get the bagel with lox ,and its fantastic. This last time I ventured out with California Eggs Benedict-delicious! The Pantry is small, and we've often had to wait, but not long. I... More
