We came into the train station from NYC and were looking for a place to grab a late-ish dinner (8:30 pm). Skappo seemed like an easy place to get to from Union Station, so we called to make a last minute reservation for 6 people. I was pleasantly surprised that they would have room for us only a few hours... More

We visited Skappo for dinner during the week for a family dinner. It is small but comfortable. The owner was our server, we paid strict attention to her suggestions, she was correct on all off her choices. Unpretentious atmosphere, very good food and service, we will be back.

We had dinner here, hoping to have something slightly different as it advertised itself as providing Northern Italian food, unfortunately we were somewhat disappointed. We had cheese and salami to start, which was fine, but a long way from the best we'd had this holiday. One oddity was that we were asked if we wanted bread with it - it... More

It was my second visit to Skappo, the first time I was there I ordered a rabbit leg , it was just ok, I have had better. So, for the second time I was there I decided to order a chicken dish. It was suppose to be a simple dish, chicken breast marinated in lemon juice and rosemary sautéed with... More

We called Skappos to make a reservation and they were prompt and pleasant in calling back! It was 5:30 pm on a Sunday and we were the only once in the restaurant so we got a nice little table! We ordered the appetizer with mozzarella and black mushroom spread and it was tasteless! Very disappointing! The risotto and breaded steak... More

This little restaurant was walkable from New Haven Hotel where I stayed, a real gem on a street that almost seemed to be at the edge of the area people feel comfortable walking to. I have not had such an authentic home style menu even in other Italian restaurants in big US cities (New York, Los Angeles). Prices were reasonable,... More

Great food, not your typical Italian, though I'm not sure I'd call it a wine bar. The food is well done, flavorful with friendly but not overbearing service. The space is small but not claustrophobic. I haven't disliked a meal there.

Amazing and unusual food that isn't your typical generic Italian restaurant. We were kindly greeted by the mother and our waitress is her daughter (and also makes all the deserts!) Try the stuffed fig appetizer, we loved it so much we ordered two. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Thanks!

This family run Italian restaurant serves unique home-made food from their ancestral home in Northern Italy. We started with black Umbrian truffles and fresh mozzarella and caramelized figs with gorgonzola and both were amazingly delicious. We also had two daily specials--fresh tuna lightly seared and served with a home made apricot sauce and fresh home made pasta with 'aglio and... More

I get tired of eating the same thing each week so I really liked that the menu was so different! Service was very good; the waitress recommended a glass a wine and it was delicious. We enjoyed the onion chutney and the zucchini torta. My husband loved the breaded and fried beef and he is hard to please! Be sure... More
