Our son found this with a friend--it looks like a middle class neighborhood, you can almost miss it--small shop with windows like on an ice cream place--inside, sometimes too loud music--crowded, small booths and bar stools along a counter. The chef is very welcoming-walks around when she has a minute and chats as if it is her home instead of... More

I will say the staff is very nice and I wish them luck in the future. I am in no hurry to go back. I had an omelette and my wife had a BLT. or should I say a BL, They forgot the tomatoes, and homes fries were cold. Wait times were long for just a few people in the... More

This place is really one of a kind. Great food with huge portions, with an open kitchen that lets the chef/owner chat with the customers. It was clear she has lots of repeat customers based on how many people stopped to say hello to her on their way in or out. I had an omelette with potatoes and toast, and... More

This was my favorite breakfast experience ever! The chef makes you feel like you are visiting her home as she walks around and chats with all of her guests. She offers snacks and samples while cooking all of the food on her own. Beware of flying mushrooms, bread and the occasional pancake. All of the food is fresh and tastes... More

I keep my boat in New London so I often stop in to The Yolk Cafe for breakfast or lunch. The place is simple with lots of counter space for seating. There are some tables to eat at though if you prefer. The owner is a wonderful woman with plenty to talk about. Always happy to chat with people in... More

Lots of fun. Waitress armed with squirt gun and other "toys." Light-hearted atmosphere. Good food, served quickly. Homemade breads.

The food is top notch. The atmosphere was great and staff was a lot of fun. The issue is it took over an hour from when we sat down to get served. I recommend going here but don't go if you are in any sort of a rush.

The Yolk Cafe (formally The Broken Yolk.) Always liked that name, too bad they changed it. Haven't been there in 7 or more years, so decided to go. This past Thurs, a friend and I went for breakfast. It was foggy in the a.m., so sitting outside was impossible. (Due to the wet tables.) Cafe is nostalgic inside. Old photos... More

I came here for brunch the other day, it was a mixed experience. Let me start off by saying the food was great. You can order waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon, whatever, and I'm sure you'll love it. The downside is there is only one grill, so you will wait. I'm told if you come during the week, the wait is... More

My daughter found this hidden gem on Find Me Gluten Free app, and we loved it! Went for breakfast and found a wonderful local diner, with friendly, happy staff, a great menu, wonderful food, and even fab music (warning: 80's music!) I had a breakfast special eggs, sausage, toast and home fries. My daughter had a design-it-yourself omelette with GF... More
