Village Gourmet is a small, casual restaurant serving the best Chinese food I've ever had! I've been there twice now and both times the food was outstanding! The portions are large and enough to take home for another dinner. Since they don't have a liquor license, they serve a complimentary glass red or white wine. The staff is very friendly... More

Was told of this place by a co-worker. Didn't believe it was BYOB and we walked in with a bottle and sure enough. Staff was friendly and the food including dessert was great and reasonably priced. Since "finding" this place and telling friends, it seems anyone in the local area knows this place well - it's more than a take... More

Chef Eric has a huge following for good reason, you will be hard pressed to experience the equal to Village Gourmet regardless of how far afield you travel. Standards like Sesame Chicken and General Tsao's bear his unique signature. Scallion pancakes are very good. Nice dishes such as gluten free rice? noodles with veggies much enjoyed. We do take-out mostly,... More

We've been coming to Village Gourmet for over 15 years and am a little embarrassed to have taken so long to write a review of what is our favorite Chinese restaurant in all of Fairfield County. Good food and great value, it consistently delivers tasty dishes although the menu is not as extensive as you can find in NYC; it... More

This place has a much better rating than it deserves. There's nothing special, nothing is fresh and nothing is handmade. I can't understand why people rate it so high?

Went here with friends to enjoy a Friday night meal. We stayed for over 3 hours chatting and eating good food. The staff were wonderfully accomodating. Our friends speech Chinese so it was lovely to watch our waitress explain menu items to them. We had fried crab meat wontons and shrimp tempura to share for appetizers. For my entrée, I... More

Garlic chicken with green beans and scallops and shrimp were terrific. The hot and sour was vegetarian and was perfect. We walked in and ordered and were served for take out within 10 minutes. We live in the neighborhood and will be there regularly.

So authentic and delicious. Dishes you won't find anywhere else. Situated in a small strip of stores. Not flashy but worthy of sophisticated palate.

We went here on the recommendation of friends and we were glad we took their advice. The food was good and they kitchen has specials using lots of veggies. I enjoyed a shrimp special which had nice large shrimp and included a nice mix of fresh vegetables. Another nice thing is that here one has their choice of white rice... More

The first couple of times I came to the restaurant the food really was delicious and the service was decent. Tonight service was terrible and I will not return. The tea pot leaked all over our table; the waitress took our napkins to wipe it up, left it on the table, which look unappetizing and she had an attitude while... More
