I mean my take on this situation is that in a vacuum, without absolutely nothing else factored in, yes, the salad should have just been taken off the check. However, real world scenarios being considered, they didn't necessarily err, or err to the point that you shouldn't go try them, because honestly they have some of the best food, service, and beer selection around. Think about it like this- guest makes a minor complain about the salad not being what was expected and they take it back right away. But they're busy and the manager/owner then has to immediately tend to a more pressing issue, with every intention of taking the salad off the check. They get caught up in a rush and its overlooked. Not the end of the world; as someone who goes out to eat 4-5 times a week I check my check before paying, just to make sure. More often than not servers forget to add things that should be there, and I notify them, because I'm in the restaurant business and believe in paying for what I consumed. On the flip side, I've had times where I've had to send something back somewhere and they forgot to remove from the check, it's equally my responsibility as a consumer to confirm what I'm paying for, as well who's attending us. No system, process, or person is perfect, but with communication 99% of issues are avoidable or immediately able to be remedied. So, to the gist of your question, my answer is to not let one situation that can easily be misconstrued or misunderstood stop you from enjoying some of, literally, the best pizza around. Go try Tucci's!
