My most recent visit (among many) to Mel's was to have breakfast with a friend. I ordered the lox, cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, and onions on a toasted bagel. It was sooooo good. Mel's is a super diner for any meal. They have an extensive...More

Good diner food, but occasionally horrible. Seems like constantly turning over the staff detracts from service quality. Good for a late nite meal or dessert Don't expect much in quality and it'll be OK.

Took my mother for Mothers Day & we both ordered liver & onions. BLAH, it was RAW; sent back & you couldn't chew it. Didn't even take leftovers home. Salad was good.

My wife had been trying to get me to go here for a while. So I gave in. We haven't been back. We were not impressed with the food. The carpet could have used a cleaning..

I have never eaten grouper at Mel's either as I am allergic to fish, however my family has on several occasions and all have enjoyed it.

I don't know but it appears that others have advised you that you can. This is a great gift idea! Especially if your folks are in their sixties or seventies.
