Florida is experiencing unusually cold temperatures now. Unfortunately, the Rod and Gun Club isn't aware of this. Everyone in the dining room had to leave their coats on and were still very cold. There is no central heating system in this building. I was told...More

This building is wonderful. It features beautiful cypress paneling and rich historic aura. At our last visit, we were pleased to find that management changes have resulted in improved service and Debbie our waitress was top notch, funny and very welcoming. The drinks were excellent...More

Extremely interesting place in the nice old building full of history. There was just two tables occupied including ours for dinner. Despite very short menu food turned out to be completely tasteless. We asked for some wine and the only choice they had is just...More

Very generous drinks from Debbie, a bartender who can also give you some of the history and color of the area. The kitchen did a wonderful job on the fish our friends caught that day- truly one of the best tasting fish meal ever!

So much of Florida is new but here is a place that will take you back to turn the turn of the Century. Yes, you may be able to get fresh seafood at many places but nothing beats the veranda on the river with the...More

What a great building with loads of history and a very cheerful staff. Unfortunately I can't recommend this establishment for its food or service. One could have a beautiful place, with a beautiful view, with a very cheerful staff, but with only average service and...More

Food was average, the grilled shrimp was pretty good. Lots of mosquitos, killed 3 in the first 5 min there. It's a nice atmosphere and fun to sit on the water, but if you want great food and no mosquitos I wouldn't recommend coming.

One can't visit Everglades City without dropping in to the historic Rod and Gun Club but do yourself a favour: skip the meal and just have the dessert. It was truly the worst meal I've eaten during my 5 weeks in Florida and the service...More

We are Canadians and rarely complain, but feel in this case it is well earned. We ate here about 3 years ago and it was okay. Now it is awful! Want to ruin a once great place here is the program. 1. Serve food made...More

Great location, next to the river, with a varied menu including many local dishes/ingredients and something for everyone. The service was a little 'intense' and the locations remoteness was the excuse for not taking plastic when the bill came. Definitely worth a visit, just make...More

Give them a call at (239) 695-2101 to check current prices. Google them to see that not many are happy with their rooms, service, or prices anymore. A lot of history there and a nice location on the Baron River, but there... More
