The oysters were fresh and very good. The bacon-wrapped scallops were terrific. The service was helpful and accommodating. You have your choice of eating inside, at a table on the sidewalk, or next to the New River across the street. The Men's room, however, smelled and needed to be mopped under the urinals.

Was visiting with my husband and a friend from Ireland, decided to go to the river walk and then have a bite to eat.It was a warm evening so we grabbed a seat outside.the waiter we had was so nice. My friend and I had the generous dish of ribs. There were so many a full rack we both took... More

Food selection and quality are good. Beer selection is decent, some local and craft but nothing rare. Nice casual place to grab a drink or a meal along the river.

Recently was taken for a Sunday lunch here. Hadn't been in for almost ten years - and remembered it then as a dark, dank dive with mediocre food. Wasn't excited about prospect of returning but was convinced otherwise. Glad I went. There is lovely outdoor seating along the inter coastal. Server arrived quickly with menus and - after reminding us that... More

We were a large group on a Saturday night coming for drinks and dinner. While the staff was nice to find us seats together the service was absolutely the worst we have all ever experienced. The drinks (beer) took 15 minutes to come out. Food more than half an hour and then on top they forgot the order of one... More

My partner and I have been frequenting the downtowner because of our proximity to work and have had the most wonderful time. We have sat at the bar, on the water and inside the restaurant. No matter where we sit we get the best service with an amazing positivity that is incomparable. The server Richard and the ladies behind the... More

I work in the local area and within walking distance to this restaurant and usually have at least 6 people with me when we come a few times a month. But I am at my last straw with this place. They took a BLT (a BLT!!) and put it on Ciabatta bread. WHY??? Then they have a special roast-beef melt... More

Went with a group of co-workers for lunch. Some of us had been there several months ago, some (like me) haven't been there for years. Food, poor.....the 'fish fry' I ordered, from the specials menu was a stale piece of non-descript, tasteless 'fish'. I asked for a club soda and was charged $2.50 for it. One person order a roast... Stopped here for lunch on our pre-cruise day in Fort Lauderdale. Nice to sit outside, have a fresh lunch and watch some amazing boats go by (and watch the bridge open up for them). Enjoyed the Spicy Tuna Wontons as an appetizer and the Tuscan Chicken sandwich was great (we ended up sharing there was so much food). My husband... More

Been going to The Downtowner all of my life. The place has gone through many changes (owners, menu, staff) over the years, but has somehow managed to stay the course and has not deviated in anyway. I give credit to the new owners each time by keeping the quality staff. Best time (for us) to go is during the evening/night... More
