Wife and I stopped in here after eating at The Top. Google suggested it was a dessert place, and I had hoped to find some chocolates there while the Mrs. got some coffee. Walked in, and the place looked like an unfinished industrial job site. Nobody greeted us, even after we walked around looking at what few sweets they had... More

The baristas have gotten more personable over the years, which is a welcome change. The decor is more like what you'd see in a bigger city, and not very Gainesville-esque (think polish and individuality, as opposed to the grunge or big box chic that is our usual). The drinks are good although I prefer blended coffees; but the good offerings... More

The coffee at Volta has always just been coffee to me. I haven't be blown away, but I have friends who will only go here for a "true coffee experience." They have a bakery case with unique and tasty items. The baristas are fine ... not overly friendly, sometimes to the point of being stand-offish. The music is always a... More

This is a great spot in downtown Gainesville. They have unique drinks, pastries, and coffee drinks. I ordered the white spice chocolate and it was so flavorful and unique. My friend ordered the chai tea and absolutely loved it. We will be sure to visit again.

I found this gem by doing a google maps search for great espresso in the area, and this place did not disappoint. A much better option for coffee than the chains that are your other options. I would definitely come back here if I were in Gainesville area again!

Volta doesn't look like much from the outside but it is a serious about coffee - offering some of the best brands and blends. Tea drinkers will be pleased with their vast array of both green and black leaf assortments. There's also a decent selections of baked goods (nothing gluten free or vegan though). Milk choices - whole, skim, and... More

Volta Order: Pour Over, Iced Latte, Quiche Price: $16 Pros: Their plain black coffee is pretty good, quiche was awesome, tons of seating, they have a ton of great chocolate! Cons: Very limited options for coffee and none of it is amazing, seems less of a “coffee house” than a multipurpose hangout spot Thoughts: One of the way I know... More

Even though they really are not customer oriented and as you walk in you are lucky if they even look at you, the ice coffee is awesome and the treats are delicious.
