Good food, service and vibe! I wanted to fall in love with this place because vegan food and Reggae are just up my alley, but I left a star off due to the level of fried food and having to change my shirt after lunch due to it smelling like fry Oil. The jerk tofu and seitan was pretty darn... More

We have been here several times. The food is good and seems to be very authentic Jamaican food. It is not cheap. But the biggest complaint is that the service is consistently, amazingly slow!!!! The last visit was a dinner out with my son who is a UF student. We waited an hour and a half for a our food.... More

Menu is fantastic! We stopped for a late lunch and both of us ended up ordering burgers. OMG!!! Ask for the Datty onions (patois for dirty or seasoned). They come on top of the burger making it almost a foot tall! Burger was delicious, as were the fries. I'm going back to try more items. Atmosphere is not the best,... More

There's no Jamaican restaurants near our hometown and since we were staying in Gainesville for a few days I was really looking forward to checking out the Reggae Shack, based on TA reviews. I'm not a fan of jerked meats but love the curries, especially goat, as that's one meat that I haven't been able to master in my kitchen.... More

We ate here on a slow day. Service was good and the food was really good. The place is unassuming but feels authentic. Worth a try and something different!

Nice servers. Atmosphere/ambience is just plain folks. But excellent smoked chicken with brown sauce, and curried shrimp. Our table companions had similar dishes, but vegan - and they raved about them. We could not believe the amount of food, wonderfully prepared.

In an effort to find delicious, healthy food while on a long distance trip along I-75, we happened upon Reggae Shack, and believe me, it was worth the detour. So much so, that we made the same journey again three years later, and both my wife and I couldn't wait to get to Gainesville a second time. On both visits,... More

The jerk chicken and oxtail keep me coming back. I usually get my food to-go, but the staff is always polite and courteous. Located close to downtown gainesville, it's a great dinner location. If doing take-out and they say "it will be ready in 15 minutes," I recommend waiting a few more. I am always left waiting another 5-10 minutes... More
