My wife and I returned to Marco Island at the start of Oct for the second time. We finally decided on spending time at Residents Beach and of course, were not disappointed. After we had parked, we had the opportunity to speak to someone who...resides locally and ask which were their favorite restaurants in the area. LeeBe Fish was on the top of their list for someplace to eat that serves fresh fish caught that day. We lucked out, the evening we went, it was Grouper, one of our favorites. I totally loved that this is not a chain restaurant and is a locally owned, operated and we could tell from all the fishing pictures mounted to the walls. Yes, this restaurant is very simple but the food is fantastic, made to order and super fresh. Like other restaurants around Marco Island they of course will cook what you have caught. The restaurant is located on the North end of the island and is beside another well known restaurant but I am glad we did not wait for seating at the other restaurant. The restaurant is very easy to pass, you will need to turn down Royal Palm drive which ends at the restaurant and some shops. There is an old run down restaurant that is closed right at the entrance to Royal Palm drive, just go past that and you have arrived at the restaurant. This is a perfect restaurant when you are coming right off the beach and looking to grab some great food at a reasonable price without having to worry if you are dressed up enough. When you enter, the menus are right to the lefthand side opposite the drink coolers. There was no waitress to wait for, we simply reviewed the menu, placed our order at the register with a very polite and knowledge young man, selected our drink, paid and sat ourselves at any table we felt like. The Catch of the day was listed on a board right over where you place your order. Drinks ranged from a selection of bottled beer and canned soda. My wife ordered the Grouper wrap with fresh fries and was not disappointed. It really was the size of a burrito but was so good she practically finished it all. I had the Grouper platter on a bed of white rice, black beans and cilantro. Every part of our meals were served fresh, piping hot and good portions that should satisfy most appetites. My fish was cooked to my liking, it was like the Forest Gump movie, but in my case it was Grouper and not shrimp. You can have it grilled, fried, blackened, etc. I simply asked for my Grouper to be grilled with some salt and pepper and let the freshness of the fish do the talking. The menu was simple and did have some options for the kiddies. I would recommend to anyone, super fresh, very reasonable and casual. I would not recommend for a romantic evening but when locals are dropping in to order take away, you can be assured the food will be great and it was. Service was prompt, very polite server and it was great driving back to Sunrise with a full belly.More
