This restaurant has a varied food and drinks menu which is reasonably priced; it is a comfortable relaxed place to dine and has many tv screens if you wish to catch up on some ongoing sport, if you so wish.

This could be a great restaurant with the right touches... But it just misses, falling on the "diner" side of the spectrum. Unimaginative decor, menu, etc... Food was good, but overall still felt like a diner.

I was comparing my recent visits to Balans with friends and we all agreed, the menu has changed and it's not better. But ... I was there before an arts event the other evening. We were in time for happy hour and it was a good deal. I think the happy hour servings were $5 or $7. My friend had... More

We stayed at a nearby hotel. The restaurant was within walking distance. The meal was delicious. We have been there before and recommend it as a place to go.

I usually go to their other locations which I like better. The food here was decent. Their friends are delicious. Service was good. I didn't like the mocktails. The sour cream Oreo cheesecake is a must!

We ate here twice, once for breakfast and once for an evening meal. Service and food were both very good.

Three for brunch on a recent Sunday, sitting outside on the terrace. For starters, it's on Biscayne Blvd., so the outdoor terrace has a bit of activity and commotion from the street traffic. The parking lot is very tiny and cramped, providing a bit of entertainment watching people trying to maneuver their gigantic SUVs into the lot. The food was... More

From its start in London, Balans Restaurants has offered comfort food from all over the world. Known for its modern menu, great cocktails and friendly atmosphere, Balans saw success during its expansion to seven locations in London. In 1997, proprietor and entrepreneur Prady Balan opened his first restaurant in the U.S. He chose Lincoln Road Mall in Miami Beach, one of America's most eclectic and international cities. Balan loved Miami so much he decided to expand further, opening restaurants in the Miami Modern District, Brickell, Downtown and Dadeland. All locations offer brunch, lunch and dinner menus featuring modern comfort food with international flair. Prady Balan, Proprietor Prady Balan (pronounced "Bay-lun"), originally from Calicut, India, moved to London at a young age for school and never left. His start in the restaurant industry had humble beginnings at McDonald's, where he first worked as a teenager. In his 10 years there, he worked his way up to senior management. Despite this success, he wanted a business of his own and started over. With a loan of £100,000, he opened a small cafe in the Soho district in 1993 and turned it into a successful diner that catered to the pre- and post-club crowd. It was also openly gay friendly, a unique distinction that set it apart in the '90s in London. After years of hard work and good food, Balan turned his first restaurant into a success and grew his empire to seven locations in London and five in Miami. The story doesn't end there... Miami now has a special place in Balan's heart and has become home base for Balans Restaurants and Prady Balan himself. In fact, Balan sold the London restaurants and now lives here full time to focus on expanding throughout South Florida and perhaps the U.S.
