About
Five Sisters Blues Cafe, located at 421 West Belmont on the corner of Belmont and DeVilliers streets, is a restaurant built on some of Pensacola’s deepest history right in the heart of historic downtown Pensacola – The Blocks. For decades this intersection was the epicenter of African-American business and social life. It was here that the progression of musical culture made its mark in Pensacola Each of the four corners of the intersection feature buildings that date to the neighborhood’s historic period that served as the hub of the blues community; including Gussie’s Record Shop, WBOP Radio Station and Abe’s 506 Club. As talent passed through and the good times rolled, the neighborhood welcomed musicians Louis Armstrong, Aretha Franklin, Ike & Tina Turner, James Brown, Clarence Carter, Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Percy Sledge, Count Bassie, Wally Mercer Jr, Gwen McRae, Otis Redding, Don Shirley, James & Bobby Purify and many, many more. In 2010, community leaders and active residents

Unbelievable Southern food! Do not dine hear if you are dieting! Most Everything worth eating is fried and to die for, particularly the chicken. Live blues on Sunday and a special Sunday brunch menu. We, however went for the really fattening stuff! Red beans and rice with the world’s best andouille sausage an d a side of fried chicken! Excellent IPA went along with our caloric splurge. Steady stream of customers but short wait for a table. Our waitress was so helpful in suggesting how we could have a side of fried chicken. Very nice and excellent service. Order the bloody Mary; it comes with a fried chicken wing garnish👍👍👍

The Go Retro tour guide had pointed out this cafe earlier in the day and pointed out you would get a discount for eating here. Pot roast was on the menu so we ate here. Was half expecting to hear blues music, either live or piped, but not to be. Indeed apart from records on the wall it just looked like many other restaurants. Not sure pot roast is why people eat here but it was both plentiful and tasty. Was surprised cafe manager was not aware of the Go Retro leaflet and the free dessert. However they happily honoured the offer. The fruit cobbler sounded good but we were full so we had the ice cream. Interestingly although the cafe is supposedly in a poor location, the final bill was very similar to when we visited a highly rated very popular Irish pub in the area. Still we are glad we came

Five Sisters is a lively fun restaurant with great Southern food. Chicken and Waffles couldn’t be better, “Sisters” Benedict was all you expect and best of all the Bloody Mary comes with a fried chicken wing garnish. The morning we were there the “jazz” for the Jazz. brunch was recorded because of Covid but still a super Sunday Brunch.

Since moving to Pensacola my family has enjoyed this amazing restaurant. Since we loved it so much, we decided to bring our friends visiting. But let’s get to the title Savory and Sweet, hands down the best chicken and waffles you will find, with a little bit of butter and warm syrup poured over both, you have instantly put your taste buds into heaven mode! Our friend had never had it, and can’t wait to go back for more. If your in PENSACOLA stop here and ask for Brandon our amazing server leave a good tip because your going to be blown away. Staff is great good atmosphere with both inside and outside dinning with a great playlist to backup any occasion! Don’t believe me the proof is in the photo! Kay.B

We were starving after the flight in from Denver. We shared the fried chicken and red beans and rice with a scoop of pulled pork. Absolutely delicious!! We had so much left over we had it for dinner. The green beans and onion rings were spectacular!

The restaurant is located in a semi-residential area; we were charmed by the old, beautiful homes. There were only two of us and the evening was cool so we opted for inside dining although were was space in their outside protected patio. Although it is recommended to have a reservation, fortunately there was room for us. We were greeted and seated quickly. My friend and I needed some time to visit and review the menu. They offered to take our order several times and, when we were ready to order, the waitress appeared. We chose salads and gumbo - delicious. I observed other tables; the servings were very generous. During most of the time, a gentleman was playing blues - a big plus! A great experience. If I travel through Pensacola, I will visit again and recommend.

First the backstory: Century old brick building that housed many businesses, including a record store catering to African Americans, and a related AM station. The restaurant’s walls are covered with posters from R&B concerts from the 60s that were left behind when the record store closed up shop. Now the food: Excellent Southern fare, with world class fried chicken, generous portions, and $5 for Meatloaf Monday. Server Iian was a hoot and there is live music Th-Sat nites and a jazz brunch on Sunday. All round excellent choice if you are in or even near Pensacola.

Amazing food! We had the fried chicken with Mac and cheese, and fries as well as the porkchop special with coleslaw, and fried okra. Also the crab and corn soup of the day. First, soup was spot on! It was very delicious and tasted fresh with a good balance between the crab, corn, and spice. The friend chicken was cooked thoroughly with a good crunch to the skin. Good portion with a large breast and a drumstick. 3 pieces was an option for just a dollar more. The mac and cheese was creamy and very cheesy. It had a slight crust on top and I enjoyed it very much. If you like crispy fries you'll love what you get here. Crispy waffle fries! The porkchop was crispy and delicious. The fried okra had good flavor and a nice crunch. The coleslaw was slightly creamy with a pineapple tang. The service was okay. The server we had was also tending the bar so she was slightly distracted. There were several workers sitting at the bar after their shift and an off duty manager sitting at the bar, which was a little distracting to our server and it seemed to be just an after hours employee hangout.

We wanted to try a different restaurant. Made reservations so we knew they would have space for our family of 5. They had our table ready ahead of time. The fried chicken was great as was the jerk chicken salad & chicken wrap. We appreciated the local beer options! The restaurant was very clean, the service was outstanding as the atmosphere was great! The only negative I have is the kids burgers were dry & overcooked. Good thing we had enough other food to share with the kids.

We went here for a later dinner after attempting another restaurant and it was an hour and a half wait. We walked in and got seated with a party of 5 immediately. That is not to say they weren’t busy because they were hopping. It took a little while for our waiter to get to us but he had acknowledged us and others double checked on us. Cody was a fun waiter as we can be a rowdy group friends for over 30 years with our adult daughters we definitely have a good time. We had 3 different cocktails, the panhandle, tequila blues and blues berry lemonade all were delicious and so good they were dangerous. Personally I had fried green tomatoes and chicken and waffles with fried okra and garlic mashed potatoes. The fried chicken was quite possibly the BEST I have ever had. My best friend gave our waiter 2 choices and told him to surprise her and he played along. Everyone enjoyed the food and live music and at the end of the night our waiter thanked us for a great experience as well. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Even before we received our dinner, the server carried it around the restaurant and stopped at three different tables, and the bar before bringing to our table. My meal was ok. Waffle fries and hush puppies cold and hard. Waitress did not ask if we wanted dessert, which we did. She did offer dessert to the patrons sitter next to us. We went somewhere else since dessert wasn’t offered to us. My husband’s entree was room temperature, but he was hungry; so he ate it.

This was our third time trying five sisters since change in ownership and I have to say we won't be back. The food was more flavorful before change in ownership. I love the new owner Pierre, but sorry the food was not so great. I ordered the fried chicken with collard greens, mac and cheese, gumbo, and salad. My husband had the country fried chicken, salad, gumbo, mashed potatoes and corn muffin. He wasn't so happy either. Service was great. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your latest dining experience, we really value the feedback. That said, I am so sorry, clearly we missed the mark. Please know that we have not changed any of the recipes however this may mean that some of our cooks are not adhering to the recipes. Thanks to your feedback, we will have Jean Pierre speak with the staff to ensure that all recipe preparation is consistent. I would really appreciate the opportunity to learn more. When you have a chance, give a call. Thanks in advance, Maria 850-217-2347

Wish I could give Five Sisters a ten star rating! We travel to visit family in Pensacola several times a year and frequent quite a few of the local non-chain restaurants. And, when we’re hankering for a meal other than seafood and want some excellent down home Southern Cooking we always stop by Five Sisters Cafe. Here you’ll find generous portions of perfectly prepared Fried Chicken, Pulled Pork, Meat Loaf, Pot Roast, Fried Green Tomatoes, Real Mac n’ Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Country Style Green Beans which is all served with honey biscuits. (There are seafood appetizers and entrees plus full bar service as well.) Besides the many scrumptious food options, Five Sisters has an appealing eclectic type of atmosphere of old brick walls & high ceilings. On weekends there’s live music. Dine inside or on the patio. Just a few minutes away from the heart of downtown Pensacola. Affordable prices too!

Our family of 4 had lunch here today. Although restaurant was crowded, it was not loud and service was excellent. The best items we tried were the pulled pork (great authentic smoky taste) and the fried chicken (some of the best we've ever had). Brisket, grits, mac-n-cheese were OK. Our waitress was very sharp and friendly. Wish we had room for dessert!

I ordered a Bloody Mary as well as my significant other and another friend at the table. The only two people present when she dropped them off was myself and she skipped me and said she would bring my Bloody Mary. It took another 20 min just to get my drink. Rude is an understatement.
