This place used to be so good, the last three visits were ok to mediocre and this one was the worst. Wait staff is inattentive, food is late, preparation too salty, burger overcooked (like really overcooked), we couldn't wait to leave. Sad because we really enjoyed the food and the restaurant the first few times we came.

I'm sorry that you have been disappointed in your last few visits. Nothing at the restaurant has changed, so we would love to know more about your recent experience. Maybe if you can give us a call and we can fix any problem you may have had. More

Once again a wonderful experience at Indigenous. Love the food and setting; professional staff. We visit Sarasota annually and this restaurant is always on our list.

Wonderful local fare. The menu barely tells you what they have, so wait for the waitress. Enjoyed the pork belly.

First time here and it was such a charming place. The short ribs were probably the best we ever had and the cucumber salad was spot on. Our server had a great personality and we never had to ask for a thing. Well done!!

We were fortunate to be led here by friends who had been before. The restaurant is located in a house in a neighborhood of houses. They have decorated the outside spaces so as to make it fun inviting and a bit romantic. You can eat in the main house or request the wine cottage. We were lucky to have a... More

We came here absolutely loved the place, we ate outside and really enjoyed the experience. The food was original and unique. The fish was creative and fresh. We actually booked a return visit later in the season that night and considered it among Sarasota's best. On our return visit we didnt specify outside and were forced to eat indoors, it... More

Appetizers we tried: Parmesan beignets--OMG--outstanding, Smoked Sturgeon tartine- also very good. The table next to ours raved about the Mushroom bisque and they were right, so flavorful-- Dinners: "Something from the garden" was based on Cincinnati chili - I loved it, fresh and definitely was spot -on flavorwise. Plentiful and abundant -fish I believe was Cobia--fresh and hot. Our server... More

We returned to Indigenous on our yearly holiday in Sarasota. We had a deliciously prepared swordfish entree, which was one of the best dishes we've ever eaten. We were too full for dessert and settled for a decaf Cappacinno that served as an excellent substitute. Again, it was as good as we have had anywhere. Highly recommended.

Made reservations, a must, for a Saturday evening. Immediately discovered that a lack of lighting required that I ask the waitress for a flashlight to read the menu. This restaurant doesn't have a fixed menu but rather uses local suppliers for their beef and fish offering which changes each night, The waitress, Megan, went out of her way to explain... More

Smal, fine restaurant in former home in Laurel Park district. Excellent service and food at reasonable prices for what you get. Book ahead!
