Stopped here yet again for lunch, and had to do another review since it has been several years since my last review. We are from Michigan and every trip to Marietta includes a stop at Old South. Title says it best: best barbque ever. I always get the pork because I love it. Sauces are yummy. Just can't beat it.... More

There may be as good as ribs around Atlanta, but there is none better than here! Ms llouellan has passed, but her family still cooks great ribs. In my opinion, as good as Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, and as good as Corky's or RB's in Memphis. Each has a distinctive flavor, but I will not miss these if I am near... More

I haven't been here in years. We decided to see if it was still great. Not surprised, it was! The meat was so tender and tasty and everyone was very helpful. We will definitely return to get our dinner soon.

The place was dirty. There was a customer/employee (?) throwing up in the bathroom. The waitress delivered my plate with her thumb in my food. I ordered the chicken and had to go on antibiotics to combat whatever I picked up at Old South BBQ to solve my stomach bacterial infection. I will never, ever eat there again.

This is the oldest restaurant in Smyrna. They do barbecue right, nothing too fancy just right. You can see the pit inside and the wood pile outside, unlike some chain restaurants. Support local, you won't regret it!

Thank you Marsha! The restaurants now have laws where they can not have open pits like we do! We are Grandfathered in from our opening in 1968! More

Great family environment with good BBQ. Waitresses are known to give hugs and you feel very welcome. Food was very good, basic atmosphere. Will return.

You really do feel like you are eating at your grandma's house back in the old days. The staff were really friendly and made you feel welcome. The food was pretty good, but not the best I have ever eaten.

This restaurant has been around for a long time. The workers and the place feel very homey. Although I have eaten in the restaurant, most of the time I pick up BBQ and bring it home. My family loves the smoky flavor of the meat. We frequently eat the chicken, pork and ribs. We also like the Brunswick stew and... More

that you are in for some really fine bbq. smell the smoke from a mile away, see it from nearly a quarter mile. park out back, see the stacked firewood, and the interior of your car will be painted with the scent. but they are all business inside. like a fine plate of bbq you gotta bare down onto meat... Flew to Atlanta for the weekend and decided to stop in for a bite. Service and food were awesome, and the hugs from our waitress were included at no extra charge. A definite "must stop in" place!
