The venerable steakhouse/bar exudes quality service copious portions of excellent meat and well mixed drinks in an warm congenial friendly atmosphere. Families and friends all gather here and all are welcome to conversation and connection. Outstanding food served with intense attention. Go early for the ribs and the prime rib is to die for. All 5 stars!!

I visited the Pioneer Saloon with friends, so I was able to try a variety of dishes. I had an excellent Prime Rib, but everything that came with it made this restaurant great. Given we were in Idaho, we ordered a Jim Spud, which was fantastic. It had chives, sour cream, cheese, Teriyaki sauce, prime rib bits and prime rib... More

Amazing food, great atmosphere. We opted to eat at the bar and we're very well attended to. Very community based, lots of people who know the servers and bartenders, everyone made us feel welcome.

Great food, happening location. Get there early or you will wait. Good menu choices for kids and the portions are large. Roast beef and hamburger are solid choices.

Top notch place, like others you have to get there early. We arrived at 5:00 pm and barely beat the crowd. It got loud and lots of people up at the bar. The food was great, I had their pork chop and my wife had the chicken and shrimp. All food was cooked right and delivered on time. Even the... More

A must do while in Ketchum. The Pio offers excellent steaks and seafood in a rustic atmosphere. Yes, it can be loud and crowded so if you're looking for a quiet meal with no crowd it may not be for you. I personally enjoy the atmosphere of being surrounded by happy people eating excellent food. And if you're hungry and... More

This bar is a must to grab a drink in Ketchum. It is crowded, but the crowd is fun and the bartenders are friendly and service is great for the crowd. It has a cool atmosphere, with a whole bunch of fun things to look at on the wall.

Good drinks. Steak and scallops were excellent. Hamburger was average at best. Expect a lengthy wait for a table, wait service with dinner was average.

Description
For some The Pioneer Saloon is the first restaurant to head to when coming into town and the last place to go before leaving. For others, it's where they met their significant other, perhaps over a bar marg. The Pioneer Saloon, renowned for perfectly aged, tender and flavorful beef, is typical of an earlier Idaho where ore wagons rattled down Main Street and business was done with a handshake and a drink. Natural woods, mounted game, and period firearms help recreate an authentic saloon atmosphere.

Duffy and Sheila Witmer have been the sole owners of the Pioneer Saloon since 1986. Today, with their children, Alyson, Chloe and Dillon, they strive to honor a historical classic while bringing new ideas to Ketchum's restaurant scene.
