Reviewed yesterday NEW

I had breakfast here one morning while staying at the hotel this establishment is located in. The atmosphere is nice, and the service was prompt. I had the eggs benedict, which was fairly traditional with just a little spice to the sauce. Like a typical hotel restaurant, it is in my opinion slightly overpriced. Overall, if you are staying in... More

Came for early dinner before a concert. The food itself is done well and most of the tapas we had were quite tasteful and some even unique but the prices are significantly higher than other tapas places. Location is very convenient and the service and decor was nice though they could turn the music volume down and maybe change the... More

Tapas dinner in our favorite big city to visit our son. His pick as he had a couple of prior favorable experiences. First item, on a Friday night it was loud, music in the background adding to the cacaphony. Bustling waitstaff, sangria infused diners, so quiet conversations, difficult. But arriba, this is part of the experience. Attentive, but not overly... More

We did know much about this restaurant before dining there-completely submitted to the chef's preferences by ordering the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. We were not disappointed! Each small dish was different and delicious-crispy potatoes, tender pork steak, perfectly cooked asparagus. Nice complementary wines-3 oz pours. The recently remodeled room is beautiful and service was perfectly timed and expert.... More

This is a Spanish restaurant located in a hotel in the south end of downtown Chicago. We ordered sangria made with Rose wine and it was extremely sweet. I ordered tapas plates for my dinner and my dinner companions ordered an appetizer and an entree. All my tapas plates came first and I was done eating before the other people... More

Management response:

Thank you for giving us your feedback, we love hearing from our guests. Our servers are trained to tell our guests that food comes out of the kitchen as it is ready and can be coursed to meet the guests needs, if this was not stated by your server we did not do our jobs. I am sorry you didn't... More

This is a very fun restaurant, with a lovely dining room that offers pleasant views, and very good tapas--the croquettes, gambas al ajillo, and chorizo were especially good.

I love a good tapas place and Mercat is certainly that. We had about 3 dishes per person and with three of us that meant we were pushing 10 of the items. Enjoyed every single one of them from the lamb ravioli, the short ribs, the shrimp in garlic sauce (of course, what's a tapas place without that), and of... More

Stayed at a Hilton and this restaurant was next door. I enjoy Spanish cuisine and decided to give it a shot. Since I was by myself, I chose a seat at the bar and had a good chat with bartenders. Ordered a couple of tapas and some small flatbread with a cocktail of bartender's choice. Was pleasantly surprised as everything... More
