There were four for dinner and half of what we ordered was quite good but half was mediocre. Steak fries excellent, pork chop ordinary as was vegetarian entree of potato galette and brussel sprout salad ( which I would give 2 stars). Wine list quite...More

This restaurant was recommended by a waiter the night before when we asked where would you go in Chicago to eat if you only had one night. He asked if we liked French and recommended this great Bistro in the north side. We started to...More

Warmly attentive service, beautiful French offerings in a charming and comfortable space. We came in early with reservations and left before it got too crowded and loud. The drinks and dinner are solid. Tables are a bit too crowded for comfort. When the place fills...More

We ate here with friends after a weary plane ride but the restaurant soothed our souls! It really feels like a French bistro. Our party ate snails, onion strudel, steak tartare, spinach with garlic chips, duck - and of course a couple of pommes frites!...More

When you think of outdoor dining in Chicago, you think of streetside with all of the ambient noise. Not at this place. The outdoor dining is in a courtyard (actually 2). Ask for the back courtyard. Great ambiance. But it was the food that stood...More

On a warm evening an aperol is a fine start. Enjoyed a mixed veggie platter and then moules and fries. The moules were nicely prepared, but the fries were soft, not to say soggy and a second order was a bit better, but in both...More

This restaurant is enchanting - from the minute you step in at the cozy bar it's like a breath of fresh air. We decided to wait for an outdoor table since it was such a beautiful summer night. So glad we did! We shared escargot...More

If I could have a restaurant within walking distance of my house that I could go to on a regular basis, this would be the kind of restaurant I would hope for to serve that purpose. It is a bistro/brasserie, it is relaxed, it is...More

Went to dinner last night at Bistro Campagne. I ordered the Lyonnaise salad and Cote du Porc -- delish pork chop. The little potatoes that come with it were Devine and the carrots were great too. My husband had the onion strudel and thought it...More

Description
Bistro Campagne is a warm and friendly neighborhood restaurant in the tradition of a true French bistro. From the beginning, Bistro Campagne has strived to capture and express that ephemeral quality found in favorite small neighborhood bistros in Paris and rural France: the sense of welcome, ease, fun conversation & and of course excellent food. The setting is a charming blend of prairie-inspired decor and lively Gallic spirit. It is the food, however, that is at the heart of a great bistro, and Chef Michael Altenberg offers a seasonally changing menu of classic bistro fare that is based on the best ingredients he can find. His commitment to organic agriculture leads him to seek products from local organic farmers throughout our Midwestern growing season, and even from organic farms on the west coast throughout the winter. Bistro Campagne is committed to the use of organic food products and strongly supports the sustainable, low impact agriculture movement.
