I think the fact that this place is an old-school, eccentric little diner along Michigan Avenue is what carries it, but if the wait is very long I would go elsewhere. The food isn't quite worth it. The texture of my omelette was pretty overdone- could've used more milk to make the eggs fluffier. The cheese inside the omelette was... More

Artist's Cafe is a Chicago institution - right around the corner from the Auditorium Theater, and a few blocks south of Symphony Center and the Art Institute. Not part of a chain Great place for breakfast Interesting menu Only accepts cash or American Express- the is a cash machine on premises.

This is a great little café where we enjoyed breakfast. There is a good choice on the menu and the service is good and friendly. The décor is a little dated but don't let this put you off. The prices are very reasonable.

Beautiful little place with a nice view of the park. Some cracks in the old sofas but that only adds to the charm.

This place has good burgers for lunch, with a view of the city and South Michigan Avenue. You can side them with mozzarella sticks or fries.

Funny that we ended up here the previous year after we missed a World Fair tour ... glad to see it again as part of another. Decent food and beverage. If the weather is nice, sit outside and enjoy the view and people watching.

We were at this place a year ago and the attended staff remembered us. This is in my book an A+. The food is good, the service excellent, and the price ez on the budget. (especially being in downtown Chicago) This is not a place to miss if in the area

This is a great inexpensive diner just across from Millenium Park on the ground floor of the historic Fine Arts Building. Terrific breakfast fare, sandwiches, and the like. They have a large outdoor sidewalk seating area. I ate there twice. Once for breakfast (Greek yogurt with honey and cinnamon served with warm pita bread) and once for lunch (chicken pita).... More

It's shameful to have a restaurant this bad in a city that has so many good ones. The service was poor, the food mediocre at best. The only thing good about it is the sidewalk café. However, because I was sitting outside I was not aware that they only take cash or AmEx, as that was only posted inside. I... More
