The restaurant was empty at 630 on Sat Night. Shouldve been a clue. The margaritas were pretty good. Service was nice. But the food was not good. The fish, a special of the day, was very fishy and blah. We had another special of the day: stuffed peppers. Very strange dish with a cold sauce. It was terrible. Would never... More

This is probably the best Mexican food we've had yet! The appetisers and mains are absolutely delicious (my husband couldn't stop gushing about the mole sauce) and the service is absolutely perfect! We also liked the location, a bit away from the centre of the city and in a lovely neighbourhood you otherwise might not venture out to as a... More

We keep coming back to this restaurant at least annually during our visits to Chicago. The food is delicious, the specials keep us interested in trying something new along with our usual favorites. The tequila list is outstanding - definitely try a tequila flight and discover a new favorite. Service is very good and the servers knowledgeable about food and... More

Excellent Mexican restaurant with unusual dishes and a huge variety of exceptional tequilas. Service was gracious and attentive, but not overwhelming. Especially liked the ceviche and the camarones. Had a tequilas flight of 4 quite different but equally fine tequilas. Lovely night so sat outside.... it was a perfect evening.

Each year, my husband and I visit our dear friend who lives in Olde Town. We all like to try several new restaurants each year and one of the venues we chose was Salpicon. We chose the street-front patio since it was early evening. We had no wait time, but I get the idea that was probably a fluke---it filled... More

I am a Mexican American, amateur chef. I cook our rich and diverse regional cuisine daily. This is one of the BEST Mexican restaurants in the US. San Francisco can't boast a restaurant the caliber of Salpicon. Thus my jealousy.....you lucky bastards! This is not for the "margarita's and nacho's" crowd. The morons out there who think Mexican cuisine should... More

My daughter and I picked this out before a trip to Second City. (It's only 4 blocks away.) Best Mexican food ever. We live in New York. I used to live in LA. Traveled a lot to Mexico City. This beats anything I've had there. We both loved it.

We ate here on a three course promotion and enjoyed every aspect of our evening! First, all of the servers were courteous, prompt, and very knowledgeable about the cuisine. In fact the team anticipated almost all of our needs and there was little that we had to specify. Next, the ambiance was both relaxing and festive and the upbeat music... More

We were a party of six in for dinner that included a small child. For five adults we had a seven course tasting menu which was absolutely sublime. Portions were appropriate for a tasting menu. Favorite items were the ceviches, Cod, and the Lime-tequila-serrano chile sorbet (the show stopper in my opinion). Service was very good, as were the cocktails.... More
