3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

This place is good, but I think it is a little overrated. It is the most popular restaurant in Chinatown because it is the most American-Chinese restaurant there. It's all good food, and they have great options, and good bubble teas, but there are better options in the area that are more authentic.

Our hotel's front desk recommended this noodle restaurant which was close by. The place was crowded on this Saturday evening but we didn't have to wait to be seated. We were put in front of a well diversified menu, and we ordered two plates. The food was served very quickly. And it was both tasty and plentiful. We loved our... More

Large portion, to feed 4 people. Been here a few times, and it has always been good. Authentic chinesse food, lots of sea food options. Great natural fruit smoothies.

Sometimes service is average but the food makes up for it always. Honey peppered short ribs are a fave

This place was very busy around 2PM on Sunday afternoon. Nonetheless I was quickly seated, and service was overall excellent. There is a massive bubble tea menu and I would probably return to sample other flavors. The black tea wintermelon flavor I got was ok but very sweet. Even after diluting it by half with water it was very sweet.... More

We were sat right away at 11:30 but there was a line when we were leaving. The food was amazing, I got the cube been rice bowl while my two friends ate the sweet and sour chicken. The portion sizes were pretty big you could easily share anything they give you. Their bubble tea is something you need to try.... More

Joy Yee has the best smoothies and bubble tea in Chinatown. They have a huge drink menu and use fresh ingredients, lots of fruit choices. My favorite is the Mango Freeze and second would be the Taro Red Bean Freeze. The line is long but service is quick. I don't mind the wait for delicious drinks. They also serve food.... More

I've visited this chain 3 times total and 2 different locations. I've never had anything better as far as Asain cuisine. The Mongolian Beef over rice, Korean Beef stone bowl and the Chicken Thai Basil over fried rice are all will be hard for me to visit Chicago the rest of my life and not eat at a Joy Yee... More

We are regular customers whenever we are in the area. The food never disappoints and the extensive (& I mean EXTENSIVE) bubble drink menu is absolutely the best! The food menu is not only Chinese but a selection of different Asian cuisine. A la carte portions are quite big so plan on sharing. The place is always crowded- expect to... More

This place had an amazing assortment of bubble tea. It's hard to choose. The food was good. Been coming here for years and it hasn't disappointed me yet.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown may be one of Chicago’s smallest neighborhoods geographically, but it's big on character, colors, sights, sounds, and flavors. In this South Side neighborhood, you’ll find authentic Chinese restaurants dotting the length of Wentworth Avenue. After a meal of dim sum, noodles, duck or other tantalizing food specialties, satiate your visual appetite with dozens of public art sculptures sprinkled throughout the neighborhood ranging from animal structures to pagodas, a tile mosaic, Chinatown Gate, and a Buddhist Temple.
