BBQ King House is reputed to be one of the two best restaurants for Peking Duck in Chicago, and the reputation is well earned. The duck skin is crisp and flavorful, with sweet steamed buns, hoisin sauce and scallions. The "basic" duck dinner ($33.00) comes with duck soup, fried rice and salt/pepper shrimp - more than enough for four persons... More

We asked for a recommendation from the locals and they gave us this place. We are from Los Angeles and New York City - so we thought we had a pretty descent gauge of what was good. I can say that this was exceptionally authentic Asian - not necessarily Asian food that Americans would expect...does that make sense? There were... More

I love char siu and roasted duck, eat them in Hong Kong, NYC, Singapore anywhere's that good and I find this place is average at best. The meat doesn't have that heavenly roasted flavor, missing the honey sauce and after few days the BBQ is just bad. I have BBQ from other places that still tasted amazing after few days,... More

Peking Duck for 4 was incredible. The duck was delicious, well prepared and fresh. The rest of the accompaniments were just as good. A meal for 4 for 33 bucks in Chicago is a steal and one of the better meals I've had in Chicago for sure. I would and likely will eat here again.

I eat Chinese from time to time but it's always the American version with the same 25 lunch specials. This time, on a visit to Chicago, I decided to try this well-regarded restaurant and I'm really glad that I did. First good sign was that the table was set with chopsticks, which I can't use. Tea came even before I... More

I ordered the roast duck and salted duck carry out and found when I got home both were not fresh, had no real taste, and made me nauseous. This is the second time I tried this restaurant, and both times I had a bad experience, so I recommend you go elsewhere.

Average experience. Food was alright . The hot and sour soup was average , as was the kung pow shrimp . They do have a good menu selection and the service was good . If I didn't feel like being brave and exploring on my next China visit I'd go again .

We recently went with friends to BBQ King, as they wanted us to try their Peking duck. Our friends ordered for everyone and there was plenty of food served family style. Everything was fresh and tasty. The tofu, cooked to perfection, the duck, juicy. The veggies and dim sum delicious.. The whole steamed tilapia was tender and the oranges, for... More

There's certainly a reason why people flock here for their BBQ duck. It is delicious and we would certainly go back.

Average roast duck, pig & some other to go items. Nothing special for fine diner eating over different cities around the world. But if you are new to Chinese food, this is a palce to start with.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown may be one of Chicago’s smallest neighborhoods geographically, but it's big on character, colors, sights, sounds, and flavors. In this South Side neighborhood, you’ll find authentic Chinese restaurants dotting the length of Wentworth Avenue. After a meal of dim sum, noodles, duck or other tantalizing food specialties, satiate your visual appetite with dozens of public art sculptures sprinkled throughout the neighborhood ranging from animal structures to pagodas, a tile mosaic, Chinatown Gate, and a Buddhist Temple.
