We stopped in here for lunch on a Saturday around 1:30. Although it was busy, we were able to be seated in about 5 minutes. Service was great and attentive, drinks were good, and my husband's dish was awesome (he got the jambalaya--if I came back, I would totally order this!) My dish, however, earned about 3 stars. I got... More

Traveling with my daughter to visit the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and stopped in after a day at the Art Institute in January to find a humming, buzzing speakeasy feel that was "SO chicago" to we out of towners" Loved it. We could only get a seat in the bar area (where my 17 year old remarked... More

It's tough to avoid bad tourist traps in locations like this but the Gage is a worthy place. I'm sure you can do better by looking in more obscure locations but thus place doesn't rely on location alone.

We had weekend brunch here on recommendation from a friend. I had the venison burger, which was large and excellent, served with above-average fries. My girlfriend ordered eggs-benedict, which she said was OK. I enjoyed the bite I tried, but it was made with a distinctive sausage instead of ham. Prices were decent for Chicago brunch, and the place had... More

Went in on a cold January night after seeing a performance at the Chicago Symphony Center. Was helped by the wait staff finding seating at the bar, on a busy night that was nice. Food, service all very good. Very energetic establishment. It's loud there so don't go for intimate conversation.

The restaurant was recommended by a friend whose judgement on food I trust. Some general comments. Very nice urban dining room but it was dark and hard to read the menu or even see whether the steaks were correctly prepared. The menu itself was nice and small, although it had limited offerings for vegetarians. The food, for the most part,... More

I won't go into a lot of details, but I travel a fair amount and I haven't had a ribeye this good in years!! Stellar service and I think I could cut my steak with the fork! A little pricy but if you want to treat yourself, this is the place!

Chose The Gage because it was close to the CSO and we needed a place to eat after a show. it's a popular place. The hostess station was a little unorganized but it was over the holidays so maybe a little busier than usual. We had two elementary aged children with us and it was a perfect choice that we... I want to start by saying the sole purpose of my visit to The Gage was to try their "top voted" fish and chips. Unfortunately, the biggest thing missing from these particular fish and chips was their flavor. The fish was fried nicely (not too greasy or dry) but the only way you were going to taste anything was by... More

We were in town for a convention, and stopped by here for lunch. And we were able to order scrumptious breakfast items. This is a very nice place, and reasonably priced. Wait staff were very courteous and helpful.

Thank Tony M
