One of better, non chain restaurants in area. Reasonable prices, convenient to highway and hotels. Could be more flavorful.

Just happened upon this joint as it was next to my hotel. Went on a Monday night and the place was moderately full, which in a town of 15,000 is a good sign. Got seated right away by a friendly host. The pleather booth seats wear worn and cracked, not sure if that is part of the ambiance or not.... More

I had a unique beef brisket sandwich. This place has a great atmosphere, good food, and friendly service. The evening I was there they had a whole hog barbecued for customers to have their meal cut . Although I favor Western Kentucky barbecued mutton, I would highly recommend the 17th Street Barbecue in Marion, Illinois.

While many " World Champion BBQ'rs" have a restaurant, their restaurant offerings are often mediocre. This is not the case at The 17th Street Barbecue, Brisket was moist, good chew, great flavor, just enough smoke. The beans were in a class by them selves. The same could be said for the pork chop. If on I57 near Marion IL., pull... More

Very excited to finally get to try what has been called the best BBQ in Illinois. They live up to the hype. Recommend the World Class sampler platter so you can try it all. Big enough to split with your spouse or friend. My favorite was their brisket. Save room for some dessert. Banana pudding with vanilla wafers or strawberry... More

All of the BBQ is great, and the brisket is exceptional. I love the way they do the beans, not such a big fan of he Asian style cole slaw. They are willing to flavor everything, so nothing is bland. I usually order the Grand Champions plate (which has all of their meets), stuff myself then take the remainder home... More

We eat here from time to time when I don't feel like making my own BBQ pork. These folks have the best pulled pork anywhere near here. Always great. They have taken world champion for their BBQ many times and you will see why when you eat it. We have never gotten a bad meal here or from their place... More

We went there with friends. The food was delicious, especially the pulled pork. I had a pork stuffed potato, which was really good. My hubby said that the cole slaw was the best he ate in a long time. I cannot say anything about the beer since neither of us drinks alcohol but our friends enjoyed the selection.

Illinois was recently named one of "11 Top BBQ Cities in America" by Thrillist, thanks to 17th Street. Mike Mills and his crew are proud to support and shine a spotlight on Southern Illinois, sharing the gospel of barbecue and their delicious food both in Southern Illinois and nationwide. At 17th Street, barbecue is a culture, not a concept. The restaurant is a community gathering place where guests become family. Rooted in history and family, their delicious barbecue smoked using local apple wood and their famous Magic Dust(R). Owner Mike Mills has devoted his life to the pits and is considered by his peers a true pioneer, legend, and leading force in the barbecue world.
