We dropped in after church, looking for dinner. The place had their Prime Rib special on Saturday, so we figured we'd give it a whirl. First off, the salad bar. Our server gave us the entire run down on the salad bar. The soups were there. The salad was there. We couldn't find the chicken salad he mentioned. Anyway, it... More

This restaurant is one of the local landmarks! It sits right on the Rock River with great views from the dining room. There is a hotel right next door, and they have a riverboat that they have lunch and dinner cruises on, but I've never been on it yet. We last went there for Sunday brunch, when they have a... More

My family use to go to Maxon's Manor before the fire when it was the place to go. The only positive review I can give Maxon's is for the view of the river. The inside is so outdated. I ordered a hamburger and I am 99% sure it was a frozen patty. It had no flavor and dry as can... More

My wife saw the commercial for this place and we had never heard about it so thought we would give it a try. Only a little under an hour away from us and well worth the trip. A very nice Sunday brunch that you can eat before or after your paddle boat ride. Everything was delicious especially the great desert... More

While we only had drinks on the large deck over looking the Rock River we were able to watch the Riverboat depart on the dinner cruise. There was a very talented young man and his guitar providing great entertainment. The drinks were of a very generous pour and the waitress was a lot of fun.

Group lunch trip on a Saturday afternoon. Group size of 42. Arrived a few minutes early just as the group began boarding. We were some of the last on board and we were greeted by a gruff gentleman yelling that we could only be seated at certain tables. Someone had miscounted and there was not enough seats preset for our... More

During a recent motorcycle run, we stopped at this restaurant for lunch on a Wednesday. Only two other people were there when we got there, but a few more rolled in later. The restaurant sits right along side the Rock River. We had the buffet. The food was good. there was a beef dish and a chicken dish. They were... More

I've had many visits over the years, including well before the famous fire. It's a great spot, and I always feel a sense of nostalgia when I return. It's very sad the food does not seem to match up to the view. I wish it was treated more seriously than the hobby it seems. Our food was nearly inedible, and... More

On our way home from a short trip we hit a turn that was exactly the same distance to two towns. We were planning to eat lunch soon so we decided to go to Oregon Illinois to have lunch on the Rock River at Maxon Manor. We had not eaten here in years. The boat was not running so we... More

Nice boat ride BUT Plates were dirty. Food was awful. Chairs on upper deck were all wet. Asked to have them dried off and was told you will be eating in two minutes so they would not dry them off. (We were first on the boat for the day.) We waited 10 minutes not two. I finally dried 30 chairs... More
