My significant other and I went for a Sunday drive, ending at Abraham Lincoln's New Salem. Just down the road is the town of Petersburg; home of Gillmore's Café. It has to be a very popular place, there being only one parking place the lot....More

We ate there before we went to New Salem & the diner is near Ann Rutledge's grave. A must stop for anyone in the area. Reminds me of the day when you used to talk to people. Try the home made Coconut Pie & save...More

Ate breakfast here three days in a row and wasn't disappointed. Food was typical of a small town diner and good quality. Sunday breakfast buffet was busy and good value. Old plates and kitchenware on display are an extra treat. Good service.

If you've never been to the area before try a Horseshoe or the smaller Pony for your meal. It's a heart attack on a plate but quite tasty!

When our family camps at the park in New Salem, we always have breakfast here. The food is good, the coffee is great, and a lot of the locals eat here.

Local small town eats and hospitality at it's best. We came in between lunch and dinner and had a great meal. Home made bread, good cheeseburgers, and wonderful service.

The buffet is not your typical "warmed up" taste it's great fried chicken, very good pork chops, homemade pie, and all the sides you would expect. I go there often!

The place used to be called Gillmore's Cafe however Richie retired and sold it to one of the waitresses there. For the most part the place is still the same. She has even decided to keep a lot of the wall decorations. The menu is...More
