I know goulash. I ordered goulash here; it wasn't goulash. Very disappointing and totally ruined my evening. I'll go back next time I'm in town because the food is usually very good; that's why I rated the place a 4. I'll be absolutely certain not to order the goulash again!

This is a place I would expect to see in a amusement park trying to pass as an authentic German restaurant. The live band does sing and speak in German, the atmosphere is very plain and the food is average at best.

The food is amazing and the portions are gigantic. The staff is great, really nice people dressed in traditional German outfits. There was a band playing traditional German songs. The only thing I didn't get was when they started playing the National Anthem and then everybody stopped eating and stand up and after that they got back playing German songs. I... More

This is a fun restaurant with their craft beer on premises. Definitely German cuisine with a little American thrown in for those needing it. Went with a group and listened to music, drank beer, and had a good dinner.

The food was good but nothing special to me. If you like German food this would probably be a great place for you to eat. I ordered the chicken and it was just ok. Fellow co-workers really liked the sausage. It is extremely loud inside because of the music. I do not care for music that loud, it makes it... More

Met with a large group of old friends during Octoberfest celebration. This place is huge so easily accommodated our group of 40 or so. A little loud with the band playing but good party atmosphere. Never been here before so the spankings performed by the servers with with a paddle was very amusing. Don't know what qualifies an individual for... More

Full of atmosphere of Germany! Good music and fun activities but it's too loud if you are looking for a place to talk with your companions. Good food and beer as well.

OMG. This is a real Bavarian experience. From the well cooked food to the original great tasting beer to real German Bavarian music. You can discuss if you like the music but honestly, you will not feel any difference in Germany in good "old" Munich. Ein Prosit auf die Gemütlichkeit!

Bench style seating, maybe your party sits alone - maybe not, live music, super fun, huge beer selection, fried food heaven

it was Octoberfest when we ate there, Oct.12 to be exact, not sure if they always have the live band every night, but they were good. We had fun. The food and beer was great.

Description
Hofbrauhaus Chicago is the first and only German micro brewery, beer hall, restaurant and beer garden to call Chicago home. Modeled after the legendary Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany, it takes pride giving you an experience as authentic and unforgettable as the 400-year-old original. Guests can savor schnitzels, sausages, Sauerbraten and pretzels, and some ingredients are even imported from abroad. The freshly brewed beer follows the purity law from 1516 using original recipes handed down by the Duke of Bavaria over 400 years ago. With its beer hall (Schwemme), King Ludwig Room, and Biergarten in summer, it's Oktoberfest every day. Hofbrauhaus Chicago also features live music nightly with bands from Germany and Austria. In addition, you can take a piece of Bavaria home from the gift shop stocked with authentic and unique Bavarian gifts & collectibles.
