Have been here a few times. Great food. Pleasant service. Unpretentious. There is usually a wait and part of the wait can be outside so be prepared. Great cajun food. Very reasonably priced. The owner and his wife are very personable and care about customers enjoying their experience. Desserts are amazing!!!

We went to the Starved Rock area for a quick meet up with our son and daughter in law. Had a great time walking through Starved Rock and Mattieson State Parks . We ended our day with dinner at the Cajun Connection. We all thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The food was great, the service was awesome! Great place!

This spot has everything you'd expect from the name. If you've never had gator, give it a shot. The title refers to both the owner and the cuisine.

The crawfish was so good we ordered an extra 2 pounds. The gumbo was also fantastic. This is our go-to place for Cajun food in Illinois.

I highly recommend this taste of Louisiana in north central Illinois. The menu is easy to navigate, the service is excellent, and the food is great.

Where to start? The jambalaya or gumbo? The gator or shrimp? The turtle (when available)? Yes, there can be a wait, but it is worth it.----trust me! Ron knows his stuff, and that's what keeps us coming back.

People have been telling us to go here for years. We've eaten in New Orleans many times. The food was just ok. Gumbo and Blackened Shrimp was above average. Felt rushed. Got there at open, and they were already serving and waited an hour. Popeyes with alcohol.

We have had cajun and creole in Nola before but not in Illinois. THIS IS THE PLACE! The teenager and the four year old were liking their lips and really enjoyed the gumbo! They were up to try gator but were happy with po-boys and kid's chicken strips. Hubby and I really enjoyed the combo. Create a combo if you... More
