Listen, it's a popular spot. I get the draw. But brunch is actually just breakfast (before noon) and the menu is overpriced for what it is. Husband's Bloody Mary was basically tomato juice and hot sauce. Totally unimpressed. The loud table of dudes taking shots at 11a and demeaning women at the table next to us did not help the... More

Lindsay,I appreciate your feedback and apologize . My staff should have handled the drinking dudes and there comments by cutting them off or escorting them out.As for the Breakfast v Brunch...I agree and it's been bothering me for 40 years, overtime to change my description. The Bloody mary mix,I have no excuse, I pride myself in our recipe,as bold, spicy, flavorful , not sure... Wonderful customer relations! Fabulous tasting coffee with plenty of refills! We had tasty cornmeal pancakes and coffee cake. Ambience is pleasant. Great service.

I came to Bloomington from NYC in 1981. Uptown is our go-to place, with a creole theme but many alternatives. I love the filet mignon with gorgonzola, the burger, the ararat (chicken) pita, lump crab cakes when available. You can't go wrong. There are other places to eat here but if you want the best and a true Bloomington experience... More

Who'd think Cajun food in Indiana? Michael, that's who! But there's a lot more than just Cajun food done well here. Steaks are cooked right or they'll bring you another one. I've had all kinds of dishes at the Uptown and none failed to please. It's a short walk from campus too. It's not inexpenive, but good food never is.

Good energy in the bar area and talented bartenders who take extra care, even when under pressure, to get the cocktail perfect. We frequently also eat at the bar, because of the cordial environment. The restaurant has more personal space. Specializing in some Cajun dishes, they offer a broad assortment of small plates and mains. Favorite is the crab cake...... More

Michael's serves cajun flavors, but not overly spicey. I like the location, the atmosphere, the people who work there and I can't say I have ever had a bad meal. My husband thinks the crab cakes are to die for, but they keep raising the price on them--or I should say it, because it is one large crab cake. I... More

We decided to have dinner at the last minute at Uptown Cafe. No reservations - so expect at 20 minute wait. We decided to sit at a table in the bar instead of waiting. Our server immediately brought a basket of delicious hot bread and butter and waters all around. We ordered glasses of a delightful house red wine, either... More

Our son and family recently moved to Bloomington and in from out of town. Was not disappointed with great reviews on Trip Advisor. They serve Dubuque coffee which our coffee lovers enjoyed. They have a nice assortment of omelettes and Egg Benedict. The fruit was a side but very fresh and nice assortment of berries and bananas. Was seated really... More

Very nice atmosphere, quiet, upscale. Not your typical chain restaurant, food or otherwise. Date night for my husband and myself. Delicious food, satisfying and healthful, each of our needs were met. Quick, friendly, nicely dressed servers.

My children and I were in town for an early Solo and Ensemble band competition this winter, which finished early, so we decided to eat a late breakfast here. The restaurant continues to have a very cool vibe but had changed (for the better) since I was there last. It had expanded seating, new paint and some remodeling. It was... More
