Visited what I thought was still Peggy Sue's Diner in Chesterton for breakfast. Discovered this famous eatery has a "name and owner change" to Shorebird Café. Was told by our server that the interior and outside signage would be changing in the upcoming days. At any rate, the food was great as usual. The service always on spot and courteous.... More

We tried this place twice hopeful it would change our minds after the first time but the food is seriously lacking, especially compared to Northside Diner right down the street. The service was slow even when it was fairly empty, would not recommend unfortunately.

We were excited to try this diner. We are new to the area and are trying everything. It is close to home and we like the downtown atmosphere. Please listen to the negative reviews that are listed. They are all correct. First, the diner is dirty. There are wooden plaques on the walls next to the booths. They are covered... More

The decor is about the best thing going for Peggy Sue's...lots of old license plates and a general auto theme. The place was cold, the service was incredibly slow and the food was marginal. My Italian beef was good. The vegetable soup wasn't very hot and was pretty 'thin' -- like it came from a can? The coffee was hot...but... More

We were looking for a place to grab lunch not to far from the Dunes State Park. Peggy Sue's is a classic old school diner with good food and good service. Go for the grilled cheese and chicken noodle specials. The homemade chicken noodle soup is delicious and the sweet potato fries are also pretty tasty.

My wife and I went to this diner for lunch. After she ordered blueberry pancakes and I ordered a reuben sandwich, we waited 47 minutes for our food. To be fair, it was hot but my sandwich had NO thousand island or Russian dressing. One half was corned beef with sauerkraut while the other half was just sauerkraut on bread.... More

We used restaurants near us and found a different diner. It wasn't opened and we saw Peggy Sue's. It is a very nice place. We had breakfast which was yummy and good priced. You could tell lots of locals ate there. I would say if we lived close we would definitely frequent it often. We love little ma and pa... More

Interesting little old place right on the corner near the railroad tracks. Traditional breakfast items on the menu, and some pretty original ones too. Huge murals on the inside and outside walls - see who you recognize.... Marilyn, Dino, Buddy Holly, and oh, so many more!

Nothing fancy here. Located right in downtown Chesterton - you can rub elbows with the locals if you're so inclined. Basic menu of average quality. Really nice staff. You go this restaurant for the convenience ... take a walk across the street after eating, around the park and sit in the band shell just for fun!
