Tonight we had dinner at Sangiovese located in the Ironworks at the corner of E 86th and Keystone just a mile or so west of the Old location. The old look is not completely gone though as there are remnants (chandeliers over the bar, mirror behind the bar and the copper espresso maker....see pictures) join with a distinctly contemporary decor... We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the old location, the food is always good, but the new setting is too dark. Black walls and dark grey drapes make it borderline creepy.

My first impression of the interior of Sangiovese’s was that it didn’t make much of an impression on me one way or another. Our party of five was ushered to a comfortably large round table that facilitated easy conversation including direct eye contact. No leaning over or in front of one another was necessary to converse. It was the perfect... More

We ate many times at the old location. The old location had a better atmosphere and vibe but I like the new place. The menu is very good but I always order a special as it is always tasty and fresh. Good staff and nice wines. It's a little costly but the food is very good.

My 4 friends and I were here for dinner as part of Northside Nights, which has a drink, salad, pasta main dish and dessert for $35. In addition, we ordered a grilled shrimp on salad greens, and toasted ravioli with marinara sauce as appetizers. Three of us ordered the Penne alla Emiligio (with sausage, pancetta and a rich buttery tomato... More

Excellent calamari with aioli, pasta bolognese, farfalle con funghi. Setting is smaller and tidier than the old place. Very impressed.

My wife and our daughter and her husband had a dinner here. The server Brian was attentive and helpful. Our glasses were always filled. We ordered the Risotto special, it was full of the ingredients, but lacked risotto.

We had good memories of the old location so we decided to try the newer restaurant at the Iron Works. The restaurant was full and busy at 6:30 on a Sat nite so we sat at the small bar, which is our preference most places. Service was excellent, wine very good and chilled , we had 3 appetizers , each... More

Having been a big fan of Sangiovese for many years at their prior location, this was my first visit since they opened in the Ironworks building. The decor is very dark as the walls and floor are all painted black with large white lights which makes the Decor feel more like a Japanese restaurant. There is not the charm or... More

I ate dinner with friends here, and was impressed by the wine selection, atmosphere and service. We ordered the calamari and antipasti to start. I would like to see more spices added to the flour mixture that coats the squid. It was light but quite plain. The antipasti was decent. The tomato bisque and misto salad were very good. The...
