Would have been four stars if not for the odd service. Our Asian waitress obviously hasn't heard that the best service is unobtrusive yet efficient. She interrupted dinner conversation several times, one of which was to tell us that she was freaking out inside because my husband reminded her if her ex down to his clothing. She went on and... Story is about 30 minutes from Nashville Indiana on a twisting country road. We were staying in Nashville when we read about the restaurant on trip advisor and visitors center in Nashville confirmed it was a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and is a popular destination for visitors from Indianapolis and other cities. Reservations are required. The facade... More

Scenic drive to the Story Inn and worth the trip. Interesting history of the town was supplied while we ate our lunch. Lots of charm and good food! Glad we made the trip off the beaten path.

Went to the Story Inn tonight for dinner love the atmosphere lamp lite tables 1800s feel and general store decor but very classy. Up scale food with a relaxed feel, we all had the ribeye cooked to perfection, potato soup, and a cured meat tray with in house made Poppy seed crackers. At the end of the meal we had... More

Not expecting 5 star food for this location. Outside looks like a spooky ghost story but wants you start inside you could tell this is an upscale dining area with country charm old world meaning and history. We stayed the night so we took part in the breakfast. Again not expected to see something from a fine restaurant like New... More

Live music, great food, and tons of charm! Absolutely a must see! The building has an interesting history and the other buildings are just too cool!

This review is for the RESTAURANT ONLY - see separate review under The Story Inn for lodging review. We ate dinner here one evening - the dining room in the old general store is lovely! Service was pleasant, professional and attentive. Our food was very good. Husband had cup of soup, then scallops with bok choy. I'm vegetarian, and I... More

Had a reservation for breakfast, arrived 10 minutes early, waited 20 minutes for a table in a restaurant that was only half full. The hostess was unwelcoming and seemed to be bothered when we tried to engage her in conversation while we waited (only ones waiting). Was finally seated and had a substantial wait for a waitress. The entire breakfast... More

The Story Inn restaurant is in a general store from the 1800s in the town of Story Indiana, about a 20 minute drive from Nashville, Indiana. We had dinner on a Tuesday evening and breakfast the following morning. Dinner was delicious, I had the creamy butternut squash soup and filet on top of goat cheese mashed potatoes. My husband had... While visiting we stopped at the Inn for lunch. A warning that the place filled rapidly at noon. We entered at 12 noon and there were only three tables occupied. By the time we ordered the place was full with two couples waiting. The pork tenderloin was worth the price as was the omelet my daughter had. The fresh brewed... More
