The setting is everything elegant and opulent from a forgotten age a century ago, and enormous care has been taken to leave the family rooms accessible and tuck the kitchen and service areas into the servant's quarters inside the massive, gorgeous 40-room mansion. We were there for Thanksgiving dinner and it was easily the best holiday dining-out experience I've had.... More

We walked into the lobby of Tippecanoe Place and we were greeted by a piano player and beautiful Christmas decorations. We visited with our son and his ND roommates and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, the historic building and the food. The brunch options were extensive and tasty. The price was average for a brunch - $23 a person - and... More

Building around 1880 is now a restaurant. The rooms with all the decorative wood and fireplaces are beautiful. Was with a tour group company that selected restaurant. One comment on food: Many had selected the Prime Rib asking theirs at our table of 6 to be well down. Everyone that ordered PR received rare, bloody and not very hot. Some... More

This is one Restaurant that should not be missed. The food is exceptional, but if you love old Architecture & history as well, then this is the place to go! It has it all. Our Waiter Douglas was so amazing with history knowledge of the home we were eating in, but he also is the main Tour Person on Saturdays... More

There was a time when Tippecanoe Place was superb. No longer. While the food was pretty good at lunch, no one in my party of four was excited enough to comment. The service was so bad. It took an hour after sitting down to get our food. Getting water glasses refilled during the long wait was a major undertaking. The... More

A group of 10 visiting South Bend fro business went to the restaurant. I would summarize the visit as the service was ill informed, the menu not descriptive and the food for many poor or inedible. First the wait staff did not have an intimate knowledge of the menu. Once ordered the kitchen was slow. The food itself speaking for... More

This is inside what was once the mansion of Studebaker (car maker). Quite lavish for its time and place in S. Bend, IN. They do have a special Downton Abbey menu if you are so inclined and are going to that exhibit also, as we were. The setting really puts you in the mood for the exhibit, which is only... More

After a visit to the Studebaker Museum we were looking to have a meal at a unique and perhaps historical restaurant. One of the members of our party suggested Tippecanoe. The mansion is an extremely well preserved piece of Indianna history. The service was excellent, the wait staff attentive, the presentation appealing, and the price suggestive of the quality. Our... I was prepared to be underwhelmed by the food here, as too many locations with the setting as the main draw just don't seem to put much effort into the kitchen. So I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food actually was. Service was quick and friendly, and of course the setting is unique and memorable. Worth a visit... More

This historic mansion is a gorgeous place to eat and also tour. Visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food was good and the atmosphere was beautiful. Be sure to show yourself around the property when visiting. The architecture is out of this world. Take time to really appreciate the craftsmanship of the fireplaces, grand staircase, and build-in bookcases.... More
