We ate dinner here. Arrived and had to wait to be seated as the place is small. But it was SO worth the wait! The staff was very helpful with menu recommendations and everyone was so nice and attentive, even with how busy they were....More

Very small neighborhood place ... And I'd recommend getting their early or late to ensure seating. The decor is nothing special...but the food is what you're going for. If you're wanting a good home cooked meal...stop. The beer battered lobster tail is melt in your...More

This tried and true, and quaint establishment is a must. It's not very big, but it's an extremely personable place with great food that is reasonably priced.

Jesse's Embers key to their ongoing success is the wait staff and the chef at the grill. Amazing and enough said.

You can't go wrong ordering a steak at this place. The grill masters know how to prepare it to the perfect temperature and the cuts of meat are some of Iowa's finest. The ambience is somewhat romantic - low lighting, some cozy booths - but...More

The welcoming and friendly atmosphere is the first thing you notice. The steaks were outstanding and the service is exceptional. What a gem, go early it has limited space.

Last week we were picking up one of our kids at the end of term at Drake. We opted for a local steakhouse that doesn't cater normally to the out-of town crowd, but apparently is the site for countless deals made by state legislators. The...More

My wife and I wanted to try Jesse's Embers because of the great reviews they get on TA and what our friends say about their meals here. I honestly would have to say that this was maybe one of the worst meals I have ever...More

Jesse's Embers starts its hometown welcome with nice off street parking in the back of their building. Park there and enter the back door, breeze through the kitchen, and you've made it to the most quaint little steakhouse you'll ever see. Yes, quaint means small,...More

This neighborhood restaurant has been around for many years. It remains consistently good. Service is good, they do get very busy and it's not a large place. Known for their steaks, they do a great job with ribs and pork chops as well.

Very affordable. My husband and I believe they are a great value for the dollar. They are consistent, good quality food, wonderful service and the owners are always there. Neighborhood feel filled with friends.

Casual dress is fine. To my knowledge, they don't take reservations. If you go on a weekend, expect a wait. Week nights there usually isn't a wait. Larger groups may take longer to seat, most of the tables only seat 4.
