Chef Baroncini's philosophy of using fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients is represented in his contemporary Italian cuisine. Gianluca Baroncini graduated from the Italian national culinary institute in Verona, Italy, in 1991. He is the former Executive Chef of Terrazza Di Giulietta in Verona, Italy, executive chef of the Mauro's catering. He worked as Assistant chef at the Ristorante Il Desco, which received a two star Michelin guide prestigious award in Verona, Italy. Gianluca worked at the Tiberio's, Il Giardino, and as assistant chef du rang at the prestigious Galileo, fine dining Italian restaurant in Washington D.C..

The food here is delicious and filling. If you leave hungry, that was a choice. Even on a super-cold evening, this place was still busy. That says something!

My favorite Italian restaurant in Iowa City, this small Bistro with just two rows of tables and booths requires reservations most nights. Food is unique, wine list is huge, and I've been pleased with every dinner.

Small intimate restaurant. Very good authentic cuisine. Insalata polpito...octopus perfect and the warm potato and carrots was perfect with the pesto vinaigrette...fettuccine maiale e porcini (pork and porcini mushrooms) in a Parmesan cream sauce. Delicious meal

Given the chef/owner's background, I expected more from this restaurant. The Carpaccio was bland and overdressed. It was swimming in oil. The Swordfish Crudo was extremely fishy and overdressed. The food here is delicious and filling. If you leave hungry, that was a choice. While I appreciate the drinks at the beginning of the meal, there is no need to push alcohol on your patrons. Have an alcohol alternative.
