We took our mum here for her 84th birthday, Sunday lunch. Set roast was a little expensive but you don't mind paying when the food and staff are at there best, didn't know at the time but dogs are allowed so we will return with our dogs for a Sunday roast again.

We are occasional visitors for a reunion, and this is our place of choice because of the excellent food (and they have a table big enough for us, upto 12 people). Specials are always interesting (eg "rich game casserole"). Good beer and service, nice welcome, large garden for the summer. If you are visiting the New Forest, this is exactly... More

Stopped for lunch on way to weekend hideaway after a 2 hour drive. Weather was awful but this is a very welcoming pub. Nice varied menu plus specials. We had Steak & kidney pie and homemade faggots, both with creamy mash and seasonal veg. Both dishes were very tasty, buttery mash and veg cooked perfectly, not over cooked. Really generous... More

In the spring and summer time. However you will see from my pics, it is quite different in the Winter. The pub is located at the beginning of the New Forest National Park. The food was excellent (French and American chefs I am told), the girls working behind the bar were very helpful and polite, all in all a very... More

Having had a really good meal here a couple of years back, I was really looking forward to lunch on a return trip but this time was disappointed. Service was very good & friendly - absolutely no complaints there but the food was very average. We were just there for for a quick bite really but the sandwiches were a... More

Having eaten there several times in 2015 we were disappointed with our most recent meal. Service started off OK but we waited ages for our main course plates to be cleared while the waiter was chatting at the bar. The food was mediocre too. My salmon was very overlooked and the pastry on the Heidi pie was hard. The boiled... More

We recently went for a relatives 80th birthday. We had pre booked, cause there's was a biggish group of us. They seated us in a nice quiet secluded area, so we could all chat easily. The friendly staff were very efficient in taking our orders, and replaced my under cooked burgar with a freshly cooked meal with big apologies. When... More

My auntie lives in the new forest so we were meeting half way. We had a main and pudding. Our visit was just before Christmas. I thought the mains were good but the pudding wasn't really worth the money. It was busy so we had to wait a while for food. Overall experience was ok.

I brought my boyfriend here to eat yesterday as we were spending the day driving around the New Forest so that I could show him what I loved about it. Being a local girl myself I've always wanted to dine at The Green Dragon, and have passed it on a weekly basis, but never had the chance to go in.... More

Description
The Green Dragon dates from the 15th century. It was originally premises for a wheelwright and a coffin maker, then became a beer house some 200 years ago.

Set in a delightful rural setting, the pub overlooks a stream which is spanned by a humped-backed bridge. During the summer months ponies and donkeys can be seen shading on the forecourt of the Inn.

The Pub displays a number of 'bends' of leather, which bear imprints of hot iron brands. These brands represent owners of animals who have commoners rights to allow their livestock to graze on New Forest Land.

To the rear of the pub is a small patio area that leads to our garden, which is a wonderful place to sit and relax in the summer.

Why not come in and enjoy a pint of one of our four cask ales? These ales change all the time so keep an eye out for your favourites.

We are a dog friendly pub although we do ask that you keep them on leads at all times. We do not allow dogs in the restaurant, this keeps one part of the pub a dog free area.
