Ye Old Sun Inn isn't too far from us but we haven't been for a few years. Today we popped in for a lazy Saturday lunch and had a great time. You have a choice at the Sun of eating in one of the two snugs or the restaurant. We chose the first snug which is more relaxed with just... More

After it was recommended to me by my brother in the States, I decided to try out Ye Old Sun Inn for lunch during a quiet mid-week. In all respects - food, service, atmosphere- Ye Old Sun Inn delivered in spades! Thanks bro; I owe you one,

Booked here as it was the closest restaurant to where we were staying on a trip to York. We felt that we really struck it lucky with an excellent meal, friendly staff and pleasant surroundings. Didn't have a starter which was possibly a good thing as we were not expecting the Yorkshire portion sizes. The vegetarian Leek Pie was excellent... More

Over rated and overpriced in my opinion.Nothing wrong with the staff or surroundings just let down by the meal. £17.95 for a two course Sunday lunch. Poor selection of vegetables. More cabbage than anything. Our first visit. Very disappointed. Won't be going again.

We visit this inn relatively often, including taking large parties of my retired colleagues and their partners there as one of a series of regular pub lunches. My family and I visited yet again earlier this month for an early evening meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. The welcome was warm as always, the service was attentive, the beer was... More

This pub restaurant is a great find. The top things were - excellent range of food cooked beautifully and presented well, genuinely child friendly in having no specific children menu of nuggets and chips but willing to scale down adult meals, friendly right down to the cheerful presentation of the food (writing in chocolate sauce on the plates for dessert),... Went out as a party of 9 for Sunday lunch. The place was packed, so it was well that we had booked in advance. Despite being busy, the service was quick and attentive. The meals arrived quickly, and we were all pleased with our choices. Well worth a visit.

I don't really know where to start with this review as I can honestly say this is the worst meal I have seen and eaten for a very long time. This has been on my list of places to visit for quite a while so I took my son for an early tea. The pub was quiet but staff were... More
