Years ago when I was but a young man, we would drive to the north edge of Spirit Lake, Iowa to a café that was famous for pan fried chicken. the best in the whole area in the Lakes area bar none. .And now the area all around he café has changed, the camp ground across the road is now... More

What a find in spirit lake. The food is so good. It reminds me of the food my grandma used to make. The Fresh bread with your meal is to die for. Service is great and people are very friendly. The world needs more restaurants like this!!

Locals rave about the fried chicken at the Gingham Inn, but I'll happily stick with KFC, thanks. Chicken was pretty hard, dry and overcooked. Salad bar is OK. Mashed potatoes and gravy were very disappointing.

We have been here many times. The food is always good. They are known for their excellent chicken dishes but the steaks are terrific as is everything we have had. The service is exceptional and friendly. And only one block away from the largest natural lake in Iowa. You will not go wrong eating here!

Great place near the lake for really good home cooked meal. Try the fried chicken! Comes with salad bar, homemade bread and real mashed potatoes and real chicken gravy just like my moms.

The chicken is the star at the Gingham inn. It was falling off the bone, delicious. I loved the mashed potatoes., the chicken gravy was superb! They accommodated our group of 20 and did it well. Definitely recommended!

This restaurant has a supper club feel. The service was excellent and the food arrived quickly. The homemade bread was great! There is a salad bar with traditional toppings and salad. The chicken was good but arrived somewhat cold. The mash potatoes were ok. The portions are large. The shrimp was excellent!

I submitted a review previously, but need to update/edit it. I raved about their chicken and ribs. The last few times I ordered ribs they've been dry and tasteless, (except for the fantastic homemade BBQ sauce they slather on the top after they put the ribs on the plate.) The chicken is fantastic and they have a very good salad... More

My family has been coming to this place for over 40 years. You get the fried chicken, you eat the salad bar, and if possible you sit in the colonial lounge, where you can feel like you're in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. But you're not - you're in Spirit Lake, Iowa, enjoying the finest fried chicken in the Lakes area!... More
