We came here with our two young children for Sunday lunch. The staff were extremely accommodating of the children and attentive throughout our meal. The food was delicious- portion size slightly on the large side for me which meant I couldn't manage a dessert but it was beautiful. The children enjoyed their meals (one is very picky) and they also... More

We have eaten at the Pen y Car Inn for many years, and whilst the prices for certain meals are quite high, the quality and portion sizes of the food has always been very good. On this occasion we booked a table for 6 people to celebrate a family members 85th birthday. Whilst most of our order met previous expectations,... More

Popped in about 3pm. Place was empty apart from a woman sat eating from a plastic container sat far side of restaurant/bar. Waited at bar for five minutes and no one came? Could hear someone upstairs. My friend coughed loudly and voiced if anyone was around. No acknowledgement, so left.

Wow. Just delicious and beautifully presented. Good value. Nice range for adults and kids, including making adult options kid sized on request.

We arrived quite late on a Saturday and very keen to have a good meal. The restaurant was full to capacity but they kindly fitted us in at 8:30. We received a warm welcome even though they were clearly working to the max. A fabulous meal followed with excellent service and the chef even came out and asked us how... More

The Penycae never fails to impress been here quite a few times over the last few years. After jumping off waterfalls in the nearby Neath Valley 16 of us descended after lunch time. Food was fantastic only bettered by the warm welcome we had. Wild Boar stew was top notch with the venison rump and lamb excellent. Don't drive past... More

Visited on a Saturday, table for four booked for 7:30. Packed inside, waiting staff working like Trojans. Had to wait for our table, service throughout the meal was slow. Staff apologised several times for the delay, which didn't really bother us since we were in no hurry and the wine was flowing well. Near the end of our meal the... More

We ate here on a Thursday evening with a dog. Food was excellent, Bert the dog was made welcome with a bowl of spring water. Food excellent and reasonably priced.

We stayed in the area for one night in a local B&B on a walking holiday. When we checked in to the accommodation we asked where they recommended we eat later that evening at the end of our walk. They offered to book the Pen Y Cae Inn for us saying it gets busy and is best to book. We... More
